i've been thinking a lot about post rift... things. how king is treated, her feelings, everything really. (LONG POST)

there's a big gap post rift really where king kinda. disappears. no one faults her for this, of course. she was trapped atop the spire for god know how long (three weeks) and then ascended on top of whatever state she must've been in. hell, even a normal ascension probably hurts, but ascending while not really being ready? while yes, her body is Mostly human, she did have the most mental change. Learning most of the known languages and understanding non verbal cues and sounds from humans and animals and the world alike in the fraction of a second, that's gotta hurt! world's worst headache.

after she reappears again, the gods treat her different. more like a victim rather than the woman who survived and is now a god. they walk on eggshells around her, treat her like she's glass. they treat her like she's prone to break. they dance around inspekta's name too. which... king can't stand. inspekta while he did Hurt her a lot, he also did so much good. he is the reason there is so much change both in the grove and the drain. king and inspekta for a while were brothers in arms who helped make the world better and make the world right. to have his named basically be redacted well... it hurt. he was more than his mental break. they avoid his name around her like she is going to break down if she even hears it. they act like she didn't have so many good experiences with him.

while king is of course mad at him, there's also a anger for the rest of the pantheon. she is not a child, she is a grown ass woman who can handle herself. and most of all she is not only a victim. yes, she was hurt, but she also ascended. she's a god and she's alive and she's an icon and well known. to reduce her to just a victim is. well. it's an insult to her! a huge insult!

she's upset at them for believing those letters, upset for them asking him back in, upset at the way they treat her, upset at the way they treat inspekta, upset at how the grove was much more harsh on capo instead of inspekta the god, inspekta who planned everything.

king hates being pitied. she hates feeling like a burden, hates being underestimated, hates not being seen for who and what she really is. she hoped the pantheon would be able to really see her.
