Can you do a step by step tutorial on how you color in your eyes? I always watch it on stream but everytime I try to do it I forget how you did it π
The eyes are easy! So first off, have your line art ready~ I'm gonna do a fury eye and a human eye for examples, but it pretty much works the same~
So next, take the color you wanna make your eyes and color it on a layer underneath the lineart layer. I chose blue cuz I'm boring and blue is great~
So this can be done on the same layer or on a clipping layer to the Color Layer (I did this on a clipping layer), but take a darker color and air brush about halfway down the eye. You can go with a darker color of the eye color itself, but I added a darker purple to make the color more vibrant.
On the same layer as your clipping (or the same if you're doing this all on a single layer), take that same darker color and trace around the eye. I don't take it fully around the eye, so a little section at the bottom is left.
Afterwards, erase the darker color around the pupil (or if it's all on the same layer, just use the original color to trace the pupil) in order to make it stand out better.
I then make a new clipping layer (but once again, this can all be done on the same original color layer), and I take a yellow and start lining around the pupil. I try to do uneven lines which usually goes from short-long-short-long, ect and "fade" out towards the top for detail.
Now on a new layer set to 'Multiply', I take another color and add the shading~ As default, I often use blue~
Next, it's time for the line colors~ Make a new layer and make sure it's clipping to the Line Art Layer. I start by taking the darkest color used in the eye color, which would be the color towards the top of the iris that the shading covers. I then color the part of the pupil that the shading doesn't cover.
On another layer underneath the last clipping layer (make sure this one is clipping to the Line Art Layer, too), use the color you had and tone it down a little darker. I also added some more saturation to it and gave it more of a purple hue so the colors don't get muddy. With that, color in the rest of the eye lines.
Using the original eye color, make a new layer on top of all of the other layers and set it to 'Add(Glow)' (I use Clip Studio, so if your art program doesn't have this layer setting, try to play around with what setting might work best). I then lightly airbrush the non-shaded area of the eyes to give them a pretty pop! Just don't go overboard with it unless you're aiming to make it look like their eyes are GLOWING-glowing.
On that same layer with the same color, I then add the eye shine, which is just a simple line over top of the upper eye
Lastly, I sometimes go in with an effect brush (the sparkle brush using the same color as the glow) and just add some cute sparkles to the eyes for decoration. This is obviously entirely option and I really only do this depending on the picture~
