I don't see anyone talk about how Arthur drew Charles once, but it really is easy to miss. When you get to Horseshoe Overlook and you have that cut scene of dutch preaching to everyone, Arthur can be seen looking off into the distance,

And THEN looking at Dutch.

Then you can see our little trio in the background, with Charles positioned where Arthur was just looking,

And of course we see for sure later in his notebook.
