One of the things I do when I am a little down is look online at photos of capybaras hanging out with other animals (I also watch videos of baby sea turtles entering the ocean for the first time but that is a painting for another day). I cried as I finished this painting. There was something about painting Ash’s whiskers that triggered a wave of emotions. Yeah, I saw all along that what I was painting LOOKED like him but it wasn’t till the end that I saw how well I managed to capture his spirit also. I had to almost immediately hide the painting from view and I still am finding myself a bit emotional looking at it.
