Did I miss something or was it never explained why Cedric became the royal sorcerer and not Cordelia?
Cordelia is Cedric's older sister. If the royal sorcerer lineage runs anything like that of the royal family, why was Cedric--the younger sibling--made the royal sorcerer of Enchancia and not Cordelia?
On top of that, even if it does go that the boys are the next in line, Cedric was still known for being a "bungler", so why wasn't something done to prevent him from becoming part of the royal staff?
Cedric is literally the best, but Cordelia--with the knowledge the kingdom had before 'Through the Looking-Back Glass'--would have been a much better candidate for being the royal sorcerer.
Please tell me if I missed something, I honestly may have. I'm just really curious if it was ever explained.
i honestly assumed that she straight up didnt want to
we know that she lives in a castle and is presumably a single mother, and like MAYBE the baby was a scandal but id like to think that wasnt a big deal
but like we have no idea what her relationship was like with their parents? we never see them interact. we could pretty easily assume that she was The Favorite in her and Cedric's sibling dynamic, but we kind of never see it? and she has this attitude of "no no, let me take care of that, you couldn't possibly"
because Cedric is a scapegoat but he does garner a lot of attention for it. he's "that terrible sorcerer from enchancia" but Cordi is just kinda. there. being perfect. and extremely independent
which has led me to various headcannons of her having been neglected and being kinda Over her family? she loves her daughter and her daughter loves Cedric but Cordi's so bitter towards him and Doesn't talk about her parents and Lives Far Away and Never Visits
i like to think that she was expected to inherit the role and Fucking Bailed. like "no father, no mother, im gonna have this kid and do independent sorcery far away from u and your bullshit, enjoy obsessing over your greatest failure like you always do im out āš»"
like if aunt tilly can do it so can she
