Gary Adams Memorial
In 2009 I was approached to do a commemorative sculpture at the McHenry Country Club in McHenry, IL. It was to honor the inventor of the metal wood, and founder of Taylor Made, Gary Adams. He was a member of the McHenry Country Club where his father was the golf pro for many years. He passed away in 2000 from pancreatic cancer. The sculpture to be made from a dead Silver Maple was to incorporate the MCC logo as well as three of the metal drivers Gary was responsible for. A head bust of Gary is the focal point with cattails and marsh grasses rising up to a landing Mallard Drake (part of the MCC logo). On the opposite side the cattails become the shafts of three different metal woods, the original Taylor Made driver, the R7 & R12. Also, the MCC logo was engraved on the back facing N. John St..
