pen and posca on paper
the first two images are done on green post-it notes, and the final image is done on journal paper
my motivation:
i wanted to play with perspective, hands, and light, so i made this short pictostory of someone capturing a star. i imagine that in the final picture when she fully clasps the star she starts levitating because she's being imbued with celestial energy. i have been considering if i should continue this story, but i also like the thought of leaving the ending open like this
mostly inspired by all the anime i've been watching lately lol
a faux icarus, posca and pencil on paper
the inspo/backstory:
picture a mentally ill 12 year old finding escapism through little doodles, and creating a story through these pictures in the margins of their notes during school. the story i created with these doodles was of someone grabbing on to this innovative new type of helium balloon that was unpoppable, and flying to a new planet to create a world where they feel a better sense of belonging.
i got my new journal over the holidays, and realized the pages lay so perfectly flat that i HAD to do a spread. i decided to do a callback to my old doodles of people ballooning through space, and this was the result ! i think it could have been more outer-space-y but my black posca ran out of ink
