The first two pieces in a series called "You're Not Broken"
So I'm noticing...
That since I've become a certified Level1 (L1 for you savvy to the lingo) Magic Judge, my anxiety and my introverted-ness is slowly dissolving. It's been a couple months since being certified and players at my LGS are slowly looking me up on Facebook and sending friend requests. That doesn't seem like a big deal to many (and it may not be) but to me it means the world. In my training period and my short time as a floor judge I seem to be making friends. I never thought my presence made such an impact on so many people that I have very pleasant albeit limited conversations with. I just am so thankful that I found a local community that is so warm and accepting.
Frustrated.
Having ADHD as an artist makes the whole creative process a shit show. You go on your meds and suddenly the world has color. Everything is a masterpiece and the ideas keep coming and inspiration is a busted fire hydrant. Spilling ideas everywhere and everything had promise. Flash forward to later in the day when the mess wear off. You look at all your ideas you had earlier and either you can't find the will and motivation to start, you can't maintain the focus and hype you so recently had, or you can't bear to even look at the sad pile of trash you thought held so much promise. So nothing gets done and when nothing gets done you feel like a failure for not doing the one thing you used to enjoy above all else, creating things.

My final project from digital fabrication. It revolves around the ivory trade and poaching of African Elephants.
This is a body of work I made in response to a prompt about personal feelings. Living with ADHD my mind routinely self-censors itself. My brain scramble to recognize, record, and respond to every stimuli that my senses detect, even at the expense of something more important. This is what makes focusing a problem. I read somewhere a great analogy of living with Adult ADHD and I am fairly certain I will butcher the author's original words but the analogy is still quite accurate. In his words, "ADHD is best described as thinking about your brain as a chalk board. Everything your brain perceives or imagines, is written on the board under two columns, Useful and Unnecessary. As your concentration becomes more required, the brain shifts things from one column to the other allowing you to focus on the 'important details' and disregard anything that is not pertinent. This is what a normal brain looks like in a very overly simplified form. Now imagine taking that neat chalkboard flowchart of information and applying ADHD to it. What you now have, is instead of a neat orderly 'hierarchy' of thoughts, your brain is constantly writing in big bold letters across your mental chalkboard, each and every bit of perceived sense data without care for what it covers up or erases in the process. Eventually the chalkboard is full of discernible amalgams of words and half finished thoughts before the brain abandoned that thought in favor of the freshest newest thing." Now this is an absolute disservice to the original text I read from, but the overall message is the same. Having ADHD is like having an involuntary censor switch as more data comes in some data has to leave, only you can't control which data enters and which data leaves. I attempted to capture the feeling of frustration and inner rage using my favorite novel. Hope you all enjoyed this insight into the hellscape that is my mental processes.
Abstract Work from way earlier in my career. Seemed fitting to bring it back as a landmark to show where I came from.
Some Old Figure Drawing I’m far too proud of for not being a “drawer”
Something I have been working on for far too many years. Always pull it out when I got nothing else going on to work on it. Copied from a Photograph I found on Here. If anyone knows the owner of the Original Photograph can you drop me a link so I may give them Credit?
