How do I Tumblr?

I just finished flatting the page, and even though I’ve improved my flatting process I still find the entire process a BITCH!
But this is where I start plotting out what I want to do. I make colour choices based on how I want to render something. This is where I start to establish a mood for the page. The green sky will give a sense of unease, the desaturated buildings will look old and worn. The bright red of the helmet will draw attention to the character. And the red of the bottom panel, when I’m done, will add some drama.
Why would people think that?
People seem to be under the impression that I’m some sort of nerd.
First, a girl from work asked me if I want to meet up and learn to play Magic: The Gathering some time.
Then, a friend messaged me and said he’s thinking of getting a few friends together to play Dragons and Dungeons.
People just assuming that because I love Comics, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Supernatural, and all that good stuff that I am just going to love any “nerdy” thing!
They are right. I’m stoked.

Sometimes I write out a bunch of notes when I have to leave a picture.
Having been reading the Spider Verse story (which I love, wish I’d gotten it sooner) and then deciding that I need to do more, more challenging pictures to improve my skillset, I jumped on this right away.
Moral of the story kids, (or adults, aliens, under the bed monsters, etc.) is to improve yourself, you need to make a point of always challenging yourself. Never look at your work and say “Perfect! I am good!” Instead, look for something to say “Hey, that could be better. How can I make it better?” While doing simple pieces is fun, and good for the ol’ ego, there are other times you have to sit down and actually work on something that makes you stop and question everything you know, because without questions how can you learn?

Something a little different from the artists I normally work with, but it's fun to try and expand my range and see what other artists my style is possibly compatible with.

As a colorist, it's very important to capture the mood of any scene, because the big connection between any part of making comics is you are trying to tell, and sell a story. I decided to use cool tones, and purples to try and keep the mood somber, like they know they are headed to something bad.
On the other hand, it's very important to get a good use of your values so that you colours are easy to read and don't get all muddy.

Thanks
Hey everyone, just wanted to say thank you. All day, and I do mean ALL MOTHERFUCKING DAY, my phone has been going off alerting me of this or that. It’s nice to see people aren’t disgusted by my work,
After finishing my work on The Broker, Ruairi Coleman and I sat down and broke down my process so I could see some specific things to improve on.
Got a ways to go before I’m ready for the big leagues, but every day leads to the next, and every success leads to another. Just have to keep moving.

Of course...
Pretty sure I made a major breakthrough.
And of course it’s right after I get some stuff published.
G’night
Alright, it’s been a busy day, I got 3 pages finished up and got to visit with my family a bit. They seem like good people.
Now, I’m going to take the fact that my vision is blurring and I can’t focus on anything as a sign that I need to sleep. G’night all!
