Imma try this!
!! thank u so much! The way i draw lace is like…so time consuming but i usually use three different methods interchangeably
One of the major factors of lace is that it must maintain this very floral quality to it, which often relies on noticeable curves. Though a lot of lace contains straight lines here and there, the curves should always b the most significant!
How you learn to make digital art? Can you make a tutorial or give some advices for beginners?
Oh boy
That’s a big question, and I don’t think I necessarily have the right tools and expertise to answer it, for I myself am still learning each and everyday. I could talk about my personal experience, but I should mention first that much of what I’ve learned I owe it to the school I’ve attended for three years (2013-2016), in which I haven’t just acquired the fundamental skills for digital colourization and comic design, but have also received a heck of a lot of useful tips and advices. And one thing I’ve learned is that there’s no magic secret knowledge to uncover to start learning digital art, the best way to start is to just draw and experiment with the tools: tutorials are a great resource and I recommend you to gather as many as possible, but remember that there isn’t JUST THE ONE RIGHT WAY TO DIGITAL ART, IF YOU DON’T DO IT LIKE THIS YOU’LL NEVER BE A TRUE ARTIST, this is simply not true and it’s the most harmful mindset.
This said, I can show you my method for digital colourization with this old illustration of Jester Lavorre, from Critical Role. I use PhotoshopCS6 as program and I have a Wacom Intuos Pro tablet as tools.
1
Of course, I’ll start with the sketch. I usually sketch on paper, upload the design on Ps, do the lineart and then delete the sketch level so that I don’t keep too many levels on my file (bc the program will slow down considerably if the file is too heavy)
2
Then, with the Lasso tool I slowly outline the lineart, covering the whole figure, and then I fill the outline with a shade of gray. I will use this level so I can easily select the whole figure with the Wand tool if I need to later.
3
Helping myself with the grey outline and the Lasso tool, I gradually put in colour. I have my own set of palettes which I use for almost every piece I do, so that the colours will be more armonized
4
I add blush on the skin, decorations and textures. For textures, I have a ton of saved images, from paper textures, to watercolour stains, to whool, to steel etc. etc. and I usually apply them in the Overlay method and by selecting the specific areas I need with the Wand tool, and cutting the excess away with a Mask.
5
Then, the shadows. Here, I used two levels because I needed a stronger contrast in certain points of Jester’s figure. These levels are specifically Hue/Saturation, from the Adjustment Layers section. I insert some specific parameters for the hue (dark blue or purple, usually) and saturation of the shadow, and then set the method to Multiply. I tend to use a mix of hard brushes, soft brushes and the tool Gradient.
6
For lighting, I copy the Colour level and then set the method to Overlay, then adjust the luminosity as needed and add a Mask to put the colour in the areas I need.
7
At this point, I usually add a simple background with a texture in Overlay, and paint over the lineart layer with a Clipping Mask layer. This is a very generic explaination, if you want clarifications over certain things I can help, but keep in mind that I’m not a qualified teacher and can only help to a certain extent. Hope this was useful!
I know you probably get these asks a lot, but I've really been trying to try drawing comic pages. I really admire how free and flowing your style is! I've seen your little tutorials and tips and idk what's wrong but I just can't seem to wrap my head around panel composition? Like I do wonderful painting comps, but I can't seem to break out. Do you have any resources or help to get started?
thank you very much!!!!! im just using this ask as an excuse to draw random comic tips i hope thats okay and that you’ll get something out of it
did that help…
I hope this tutorial will help someone. :)

I hope this helps in some way.
This can work for drawing most robots but this method is very good for Animated because of how streamlined their designs are.
If anyone is curious on how to tackle anything else do ask :3
Here’s a thing I see a ton of people mess up, even Studio Ghibli. Hopefully this is an easy graphic you can pull up to help out.

art tips post
for all the artist following me
Have two sketchbooks: One for finished and high-quality art (stuff made with Prismacolor or Copic if you use that or art for your portfolio) and the other sketchbook for more messy doodles. This way you have a place to try new things and mess up as much as you need. When I only had one sketchbook I was scared to draw in it because I didn't want to mess it up
Do studies. I cant tell you how much I've improved just by doing studies of shoes, hands, noses, and all that. This works for when you have art block too since you’re not really making stuff up and just learning how real things work.
Learn from others. I’ve never taken a real art class because 1. I can’t afford it and 2. there’s no good art classes/programs at my school. I’ve been following several artists and learning from them over the years and they’ve helped me tremendously. Just please do not steal art because that is never okay.
Break down concepts. If you notice there’s something wrong with your piece then figure out why. You can’t get better if you leave mistakes and don't try to understand whats going on. If the color is weird figure out if the values look right or maybe its the saturation of the color.
Watch youtube tutorials. Here are some youtubers I think are pretty good art teaching all things art: Draw with Jazza | DrawingWiffWaffles | Proko | Baylee Jae
Have an inspiration folder/blog. Sometimes you just need a collection of starry nights or a misty forest or even a French bakery. All of those things can help you get inspired to draw. It could even be completely unrelated to what you plan to draw.
There are no dumb ideas in the creative process. If you want to draw a lizard in a dress go for it! If you want to draw various pastries with faces do it! Don’t let the thought of it being too dumb stop you because if I’ve learned anything in my several years of drawing it’s that an idea can lead to another and another and another and you may get a really good idea just from doodling dumb things.
Here’s a few things that can get you started on drawing better:
Dynamic poses | Dynamic clothes | Dynamic figure drawing
COMPOSITION | PERSPECTIVE | CONSTRUCTION
Anatomy:
Legs
Arms
Hands
Heads
Body (Female) (Male
Color Theory
Improving your sketchbook
Most importantly, don’t give up! You may not immediately get notes or followers but it’s more important you get better than to have popularity. How do you think those popular artists got to where they are now? To be good you’ve got to work at it.

I was asked how I made the rainbow light effect in my last piece, so I put together a quick step by step.
The ONLY WAY to combat the lack of funding in arts education is for professionals to take a few hours a week to share their skills for FREE, to empower and encourage the next generation of artists. THIS IS WHAT THE INTERNET IS FOR. Here’s 200 tutorials:

stylized fur tutorial. thanks for the question! i’ve been getting quite a few requests regarding how i paint fur, but honestly even i don’t have a set procedure for it yet orz
still i thought i would take a few moments to randomly blob out a clump of fur just to see for myself what techniques i’m using right now. so for brushes, i generally like using the watercolour ones. i have two atm, one set to a larger min. diameter (with high ease of mixing), and another set to a smaller min diameter (with low ease of mixing and high load colour).
(1) i use the smaller brush first to sketch in the general fur shapes, they’re pretty big at this stage, we’ll be adding in smaller clumps later
(2 - 3) using the larger watercolour brush now, i blob in a few shadows - keeping in mind the light source. i then select a lighter colour and make the brush smaller to make the definition between the light and shade sharper.
(4 - 7) now i take out the smaller brush again and refine the edges and points! i also use it to quickly add extra tufts of fur and then i’ll switch back to the larger brush to blend the new tufts in. and i basically keep doing this until i’m satisfied with the level of detail.
(8) i adjusted the levels to make the contrast higher. you can do this to make the character blend into whatever environment you’re painting them in.
(9) added colour with an overlay layer! although tbh i usually paint in colour to begin with in most of my drawings. but overlay/add layers are still super helpful for creating nice lighting effects and interest! you can add highlights and rim lighting at this stage too~
hope this was helpful!
Late last year I wanted to start a series of short tutorials called Tip Jar, as a way of saying thanks to my fans and giving back to my patrons. This is the first of the series I have made, showing my technique on quickly filling in lineart so you can get to painting without coloring outside the lines faster.
Someday I hope to turn these into video tutorials when I have the income and the time, but for now I hope that I will be able to share useful tips in this infographic format.
