Researchers at Carnegie Mellon University are conducting a research study on the sentiments and effects of generative AI in the labor market of visual arts. This study consists of an anonymous survey and potential for compensated interview (optional). It is open to participants from any country, but participants must be professional artists (see below for what qualifies).
This link at the bottom of this post is a short screener to ensure that you are a professional artist and prevent spam/brigading, hence the request for a portfolio. It is not the full study, that will be sent to you after verification. The submission request does not have to necessarily be a full portfolio website. They just need any kind of proof that you derive income from your art—resume, social media links, proof that you have sold commissions recently, profiles on employer websites, etc are all viable alternatives. You qualify as a professional artist for this study if you are over 18 and have made any amount of recent income from your art.
Again, you will receive an invite to the full survey AFTER your info is verified (this may take up to 2 business days, they have to sort through them manually). Make sure to leave your email, they can't send you the invite without it!
If you are concerned about data collection (valid), the info in the screener is used only for verification of professional status and sending the invite and will not be kept beyond that. The actual study survey itself is anonymous. I know the researchers (hence why I am posting this on their behalf) and have also already personally participated in the study.

The time has come once again for me to sacrifice my sanity for tiny baby hermit crabs
Land hermit crabs, like you see in pet stores and in boardwalk shops, are all wild caught. Every single one. In the rare situation that they are well cared for enough to feel comfortable spawning in captivity, the babies are incredibly sensitive and fragile.
I’ve been working with HermitHouse the last 3 years under the guidance of Mary Akers and her team to try to raise my dad’s hermit crab’s babies. These guys are 2 days old in this video, and are 9 days old as of today! They’re doing really well this year and I’m hopeful!
I’d also like to use this opportunity to tag @mossworm as I know they like little shrimpy lookin guys and deserve to look at something nice after fighting the good fight against iDigBio’s AI chatbot sludge. Please go follow them and support their efforts if you can! Plus they post cool shrimps and bugs and stuff.
It’s been a loooong month. These little guys did way better than years past right up until around day 13-15. Then their numbers started to crumble. Pretty typical for the 5-15 day range though. Once they start molting, it’s hard to keep the water quality good. Thats part of why captive bred hermit crabs are so rare and not readily available for adoption.
As of today, there is one fella left! I keep thinking he’s dead and then I move him to a cup and he perks right up. He’s a great eater and can move freely on his own. He’s 21 days old today so I’m hoping he gets his big boy/girl claws in the next few days! Until then, gonna just keep feeding him as much as he wants lol

June's Pal of the Month is the Large Blue, a butterfly from Europe with the distinction of being carnivorous as a caterpillar! It was declared extinct in Great Britain in 1979, but a successful reintroduction program has helped their numbers reestablish!

May's Pal of the Month is the Pea Puffer! As the world's smallest puffer, the pea puffer feels most comfortable in groups! They are native to India but are popular pet fish (but be warned! They need specialized care!)

April's Pal of the Month is the Pig-nose Turtle! It is a freshwater turtle with flippers more similar to their saltwater relatives! Their distinctive pig-nose lets them breath from underwater while fully submerged, like a snorkel!
