They'd be a perfectly fine display option! If... you're okay with your guests eating your candles, because inevitably anyone who sees those sitting on the counter is going to reach for them, take a bite, and hate you forever, pretty much. I bought a few things! I figured it was the least I could do after you came to make buttons!
Listen, maybe that's why people want them. To play pranks on their friends. I love that, actually. I'm going to become that person. Next time I have a dinner party, don't tell anyone. Or else I'll make you eat the wax.
"Well... maybe." Tae's comment was said with a curious tone, his expression thoughtful, clearly not all that taken with the idea. "I'm just gonna go with the good and focus on the fact they were paying attention for once," he said with a laugh.
"Hey, I'm sure people pay more attention than you think," Arturo defended. "It's just hard to fully pay attention in certain venues, especially when there's a few good drinks to be had."
Yeah, I think so! Otherwise what's the point of having a creative skill set, if I can't show it off creatively? I thought about helping Sam out with the face painting for this Spring Fling, but he's really got it on lockdown and I don't know about you, but I've barely been able to leave my tent, it's been pretty busy all weekend so far!
And you should show off, because you're a goddess of creation. Yeah, he likes to suffer that way, and it seems like it doesn't quite require a professional level makeup artist for support. Kids don't need a cut crease or to know how to layer blush correctly.
Yes! They're ridiculous -- in a good, wholesome kind of 'holy shit how did you make this real' kind of way, but I do always worry that I wouldn't actually want a fried chicken scented candle in my house, no matter how realistic it looks, you know? I'm coming to find you today!
I wouldn't want to melt them at all, that would be my problem. And it's not like decorative candles, where you at least can leave them on display. Most of them make a weird display option, unless you're super eclectic. I'm always glad to have one of my biggest fans looking at my wares.
I don't really know that I want to aim for editorial, but I guess it also wouldn't be the worst place in the world to land, if that makes sense? So we'll go with something really damn good, no matter what that means. But I think I do lean into skill set more than artistic... until I end up having to do something artistic and loving it, right? Yeah, that's more like something they have to do!
It's fun to have fun, that's how i look at any creative endeavor, that it's good as long as you're having fun. Some people would argue that showing off your skills is being artistically creative, right? It's not mutually exclusive in either direction. If anything, they probably want to cook less than anyone else.
Yes! The ones that you want to eat even if you know that you can't eat them, but they look like they would be edible anyway? I should never go to Wax & Wicks hungry, for that reason. You're the best, you know that? I'm assuming I'll be seeing you at Spring Fling?
Exactly, the forbidden and tempting juicy fruit. Do you ever see the videos of the wax melts that look like actual food? Criminal. Yes, I'll be selling my wares so please come find me immediately.
"That makes a change," responded Tae with a laugh, his gaze looking over the crowd for a moment. "Normally, the flirting takes precedence one hundred percent. I feel honoured to come above procreating for once." And he was serious, the crowds in town weren't always into it, there were some days when people didn't seem to care at all.
"I think there's people who like to flirt but have to pretend that's not what they're here for," he commented with a playful shrug. "But you know, maybe in nine months there will be a few babies named after you because they remembered tonight."
I don't think this counts as an award, per se, but. I'd love to do the make-up for a magazine shoot, so that some other little kid out in the world flipping through their grandma's fashion magazines could find inspiration for who they want to be someday, and I can say I took part in that. What about you? I think that's the goal! Emphasis on takeout, too, who wants to cook these days?
Not an award, no, but definitely something to aspire to. Are you aiming for something more editorial or just something that's really damn good? I know both can be kind of different skill sets there, to do something artistic and then do something that shows off make up skillsets. No one wants to cook, except the people who work at the takeout restaurants and even then I doubt it's a "want".
Oh yeah, and the filling has that vaguely candy-like taste to it? And it's really red, to the point where you know that's not the color red that it's supposed to be, but somehow that makes it feel better? Because yes. Hey, we try to be! No pressure or anything.
Yeah, I want it to be like a pie version of those strawberry candies, you know? Red food dye is an important food group to me, after all. Of course, there's no pressure because it's so effortless for both of you to be your most fabulous selves.
Now I really want a good slice of strawberry pie, too. I might have to go down to the diner when I get done at work just to satisfy my sweet tooth, thanks to you. It's true! I do like that everyone's putting so much work into making things happen for this Spring Fling, though. Mandy and I have been putting some ideas together.
You're welcome for that craving. Do you like strawberry pie when it's a bit...fake-ish? Like I want it to almost be a jello pie with strawberry bits and I'm not afraid to admit it. Well, I expect nothing less from Merrock's most creative couple, right?
Right, there have got to be better awards out there that we can get our hands on than... that. Besides, you don't really get to enjoy it, like you said! What's the point, there? Our family and friends reap the benefits? While they're grieving, to boot. Doesn't seem right. That's fair. You have to make money so you can save up ... to buy more things for yourself. That's the way life goes!
For you, what would be the best award you could ever win? Like is there something in your line of work or in one of your passions that you'd love to win? Well, maybe it's good to have the benefits as a way to help with the grief, but still. That's why I work, you know, to buy myself nice things and an occasional takeout.

It had only been a short set tonight and so it wasn't too long until Tae had hopped back down off the stage and made his way to the bar to grab himself a drink. It was always a good weekend when the band got to play at one of the local venues, especially so when he got to see familiar faces watching. As he waited for his drink, he turned to the person beside him with a smile, and then nodded back toward the stage. "What did you think?"
"It was pretty good," Arturo admitted. He wasn't there for the band, necessarily, but he enjoyed the performance nonetheless. "The crowd was really into it, even the people who were here to talk and flirt."
Strawberry would make it better! Give it that certain sweetness that you expect to get out of having a dessert, right? I really have, which is nice. Most of the people that I know are even good people! Which isn't easy to come by, and probably a good testament to what kind of town Merrock actually is.
That's exactly it, you need the sweet of a strawberry to make that pie worthwhile. Yeah, not everyone is a weird, mysterious rich sell out. Most of us are just people trying to live our lives together and have a good time.
No! That's the kind of thing that would end up with us being on the dumbest ways to die list. We'd end up being made into a phone game! Or getting a Darwin Award, and if there is one award that I do not want to win… it's that one. Okay, but do you sometimes just… you know, sneak something for yourself, too? Pay for it yourself, I'm sure, but make a little pit stop on your shopping adventures?
Oh, I'd love to win some sort of prestigious award some day, but maybe not specifically for being stupid and dying in a bad way. For one, I'd like to be alive for all acclaim I receive. Sometimes, yes, but I can't do it every single time I shop, or else I wouldn't make any money, which would defeat the purpose.
Good point, and every time you reach into your pocket or into your bag, you end up dropping pebbles all over the place, so I don't think pockets full of pebbles are all that popular. For better or for worse. It's tough! Ugh, yes. I constantly have to remind myself not to just... buy the things that I'm trying to sell. That's counterproductive!
Plus, you definitely can't wear your pebble pockets into the ocean. That ends...very badly. And with my mom sobbing, which is generally considered bad. It's really hard, I feel the same way at the store or when I'm shopping for someone. Like this is for someone else, not me!
True, because there's a big difference between apple pie and rhubarb pie. Nothing against rhubarbs, I just went with something off the top of my head that it seemed like people might not be super into. You are! You are easily one of the most fabulous people that I've ever known, and I mean... that's saying something. I know a lot of people.
Rhubarb pie needs something else, a strawberry rhubarb is much better than just rhubarb. SO what I'm saying is that I get your point. You do, you're a bartender and all that, plus you've photographed at least half the town at this point, so you basically know everyone.
