You know how people's eyes soften and stuff when looking at something they love?
Sabo's are ice cold when looking at Stelly. His smile never reaches his eyes. It's like a mask, a mockery.
But when he's with his brothers? Softer than a cloud. Eyes scrunched up, cheeks hurting because he's smiling so much — he barely stops smiling! He's completely relaxed with not a care in the world.

Shanks gets a lecture and Benn is in damage control mode. Why can't Shanks get along with just on erookie crew? Plus it's one of the current two super rookies.
Shanks knew he fucked up without Benn and Hongo harping on about it as he's being bandaged. “I know I fucked up, I have no idea what possessed me back there.”
“But you do understand how much of a target you put on them? Everyone will want to either fight them or have them join them. The kid was probably already on Kaidou's radar with his zoan. Even your father can't downplay you and your brother destroying an island if anyone got pictures of that, and Morgan definitely has had their eye on this,” Benn sighed and listed off just how much trouble his Captain put a ship full of teenagers in. “Neither of their Captains can be older than eighteen or nineteen. YOU an Emperor ignored the code. Whitebeard most likely already made contact with them. We both heard that Izou and Namur were at Fishman Island recently, probably still are there.”
As if Shanks didn't feel like crap already.
“And even worse, Sabo is apparently Luffy's brother. I have no clue how Luffy is connected to some rebel noble, but you can imagine he won't be happy with you.” Benn finished.
“I can't really change it now, can I!?” Shanks finally exploded.
“No you can't, which is why I'll find them and apologise so you hopefully can apologize, in person, in the future,” Benn said slowly, glaring at Shanks in a way that left no room to question. “You'll stay here and get yourself under control. If not for Shamrock, both our and their ship would be destroyed with you going all out like that.”
Shanks nodded slightly. Yeah. He fucked up big time. He'll be lucky if Shamrock ever wants to talk to him again. He'll be sooooo lucky if Luffy doesn't hear about this.
“How are you even planning to find them?”
“They couldn't have gone that far and there's only so many places log pose could be leading them.”
“Their other Captain can teleport. So can Shamrock's sword. They're very mobile,” Shanks paled as he realised. “Fuck, if anyone's spies or papers saw what they can do….”
“Shamrock will murder you if they're harmed because of you being a brat,” Benn tossed over his shoulder and left.
“Don't look at me for comfort, I'm pissed off too, the kid looked half dead when he appeared on their ship. They immediately rushed him to infirmary,” Hongo shook his head.
“Fuck.” He was so fucked if dad ever hears about this. Which he probably will.
Finding the Wonderland wasn't the challenge. The challenge was getting them to agree to talk to him. But by some miracle they did and he was brought to their beach camp on a deserted tropical island. Islands like that so close to the Red Line weren't very interesting to big crews.
The presence of Warlord Jinbei was worrying. Just how connected are they already?
Even more shocking. Sabo was already up. Not walking around and all bandaged up. Sitting in a shaded area, leaning against a pile of pillows in unbuttoned shirt and shorts. But he was awake.
Next to him Shamrock was in a similar state though he completely abandoned his shirt. It was in tatters after the fight anyway.
As he left his boat the girl with the three swords was already there. “Leave your weapons in your boat, please,” she requested. It made sense they were tense. So he obliged the request. “Shimotsuki Kuina, the first mate of the Wonderlands,” she only then introduced herself.
“Benn Beckman, first mate of the Red Hair pirates,” he returned the greeting. Now he felt really bad for not hitting Shanks to stop him. Why must they pick a fight with every promising rookie crew?
“Captain Stelly will talk to you,” Kuina said.
“Could both your captains be present? I promise to not bother Sabo,” he knew he's probably pushing it but he really would prefer they both be there.
Kuina glanced to where both of them were together anyway and shrugged. “Why not, the rest of us will be around so don't try anything,” she agreed and led him to where likely the core of her crew's fighting capabilities was.
Shamrock and Sabo were joined by Stelly, the tall kid with a respirator who ditched his contraption of a bow in favour of a weird trident who was taking Sabo's pillows job. Their ship's doctor was sitting also close, probably giving his Captain and Shamrock a lecture. Or complaining about Shanks. With the girl who gave Rain Coat that nightmarish contraption of a bow.
And they were getting ready for…. Afternoon tea and cake? Served by an…. Arachne. Why couldn't Shanks get along with one rookie crew?
“So, someone on Red Hair's crew is polite,” Stelly said, standing up to face him. Even if she was tall for her age she was tiny next to him. And she sailed half of the Grand Line, as a ‘Vice-Captain’.
“I already told my Captain how badly he did,” Benn sighed. “I apologise for not stopping him, in the name of my whole crew, we had no idea he wouldn't honour the rules.”
Stelly looked at Sabo for a second.
“Does it come from your Captain?” He asked leaning more into the taller young man. A Celestial Dragon, who was baring his teeth just enough to flash gold.
“He can apologize properly himself next time we run into each other,” Benn shook his head. Today he won't cover Shanks' mess. He nearly dragged them all into it.
“Congratulations on getting Blue's job,” Shamrock chuckled, saluting him with his right arm.
“Whose?” Benn asked, confused. Was it part of the past Shanks refused to talk about?
“He told you less than Shams tells us?” Stelly booked looking at him shocked.
“That's how we know Red isn't okay. Normally he wouldn't shut up about his friends,” Shamrock summed up with a sigh.
“Your first wanted poster is how we learned he has a brother,” Benn sighed, feeling a headache building up. Especially as Sabo whispered something to Shamrock who nodded in response.
“We accept the apology, please in turn tell your Captain we won't be telling Rayleigh he broke the code,” Sabo smiled and Benn wasted no time bidding them fare well, remembering Shanks saying Stelly can teleport.
Just what is her range?
“I hope next time we see each other it'll be under better circumstances,” he said before their first mate escorted him to his boat.
“Shanks, be glad they didn't get Rayleigh involved!” Benn yelled out once he was back on red Force. As expected Shanks panicked.
