I love books, tea and cats. Pretty much anything that has to do with the system relaxing. I was one of the first formed after us discovering being a system, so am one of the ones with a role. The others come to my apartment when they're stressed, or just need peace and calm, hence the blog name.

So I'm looking for a reading challenge, because I like those. However, I want it to also be towards reading through my library because I have a lot of books I have not read.

Also, I think shorter reading challenges would suit me better.

So I'm thinking maybe I can put together a list of books from my library. However, I am not sure what length of time/amount of books I want to do, but we will see.

Reading Frankenstein has made me realize that every other interpretation is a lie. The secluded tower amidst downpour and thunder? A pale-haired older man shrieking as a green golliath springs to life at the crackling of thunder?

Horse. Shit.

The truth is Victon Von Frankenstein is a college student that was so autistic about Greek philosophy that he knew nothing about modern science. And when he did bother learning actual science, he figured out how to induce life into dead/inanimate beings and for the next two years, salvaged human organs and bones to store in his apartment's large attic until he could finally put the pieces together and create an eight foot tall unit of a guy, only to snap out of his obsession when he realized the guy was butt ugly. I guess the fact he committed a crime against nature factors in too, but Vicky made it very apparent the monster was freakish.

Frankenstein was the little weirdo that could and I find that very endearing

This sums up where I am in the story right now. I've never been very deep in the Frankenstein stories, so I have not seen all of the adaptations, but definitely did not get the correct notion of this character at all from what I have seen.

Whenever someone tries to justify saying it's bad to read many books in a year or whatever it's usually to say that they need time to digest/sit with the text. And it's fine if you do need that, but it's a little weird to assume anyone who doesn't take a week to process a book just doesn't process it all and is merely consuming it in a shallow, meaningless way

I know this seems a little on point for me, but have you guys ever just considered reading?

So many people read because of this reason or that. Or they don't read children's books because "that's stupid". Or they don't read books above their reading level because it makes them "feel stupid". Or they read this book because everyone loves it. Or perhaps this one because everyone says it should be banned.

The list of reasons people do and don't read things is long, and frankly exhausting.

Have you considered just reading?

Who cares what people think? Read that kids book because the cover caught your eye. Hell, read any book because the cover caught your eye. Read a book that's in your comfort zone. Read a book at your reading level. Below it. Above it. Read a book you'll never talk to people about. Read a book everyone is talking about.

Literally just read whatever you want to and stop overthinking it. It does not matter what is normal or what other people like. You could sit and read the dictionary for all I care.

Read because you enjoy it, not because you're falling into the trap of practically assigning yourself homework.

You don't watch only documentaries or avoid kids shows for those reasons. Don't avoid books for them either.

Art is art. Who cares how you enjoy it?

First Frankenstein takeaway: Victor is such a dramatic bitch.
