Where Have I Been? (Pt. 3)
To put it simply -- Travelling!
After coming back from Disney I found myself to some degree, committed to a few trips.
First was the trip up to the Bay Area! We decided to leave Los Angeles at midnight (never again) and trek up to Yosemite to catch Half Dome at sunrise. We happened to fail quite miserably due to the unbearably slow service encountered when we stopped at Denny's for a midnight snack / early breakfast.
So we hit up Glacier Point in the early morning (not early enough) and made our way over to the Mist Trail and hiked up to Vernal Falls which happened to be the only remaining waterfall with water haha. After coming back down to the valley we went over to Tunnel View, perhaps the most iconic Yosemite scenes.
On the way down we wandered to the 'scenic route' also known as California's Pacific Coast Highway 1 which is beautiful and all-around an amazing drive if you have the time. It seems to have taken up some popularity in recent years but anyway, it starts in Monterey, taking you through Carmel to Point Lobos, down Big Sur, onto Bixby Bridge, and ending at Pfeiffer State Park (McWay Falls). Funny thing was we actually spent more time at the Rocky Creek Bridge which is the almost identical bridge that comes before Bixby... and that led to our eventual downfall as we would get to McWay Falls at pretty much what was twilight. Took a few pictures and headed out as we opted to go through and stay the night in San Luis Obispo rather than following PCH down to San Diego. The next day we found ourselves back in the City of Angels, or rather home sweet home.
Came back to attend a friend's Police Academy Graduation Ceremony which was definitely a first for me! A graduate class of 33, Class 216 at OCSRTA definitely inspired me and so I'm excited to see where their path in law enforcement leads them. May they make the world a better and safer place for the rest of us. In the photos, Fullerton Chief of Police Dan Hughes presents Officer Chris Chiu with his new badge followed by the badge pinning done by his parents.
So I had a little bit of downtime but you can't live in Southern California without hitting up the beach whenever you're free and so that's exactly what I did (Laguna Beach), followed by a trip to Santa Ana with all these new hipster places popping up left and right. In addition to that, I found myself at a Dodgers game (Dodgers v. Pirates) somewhere in-between everything and yep.
For those curious, YES, I did go back to Australia for a short amount of time to deal with some family matters. The trip happened to be so short that I wasn't really allowed the opportunity of snapping some pictures. Quite disappointed I am, yep. You guys deserve better but please excuse the lack of photos as well as the quality of the camera-phone pictures on a photography blog, oh the irony. Nevertheless, the camera shots below are of Melbourne Airport, Cunningham Pier (Geelong, Victoria, Australia), and the last one self-explanatory -- you didn't travel unless you took a picture of the plane.
But after all, the best camera you have is the one you have with you.
