intoxicated. new theme, new icons, new motivation, heck yeah
( tuxedomxsk ):
"…What’s that smell?"
"Tobacco." Though it certainly shrouded the air, it may only have served as a momentary cover for the pocketed bottles of Loch Lomond whiskey that so brazenly weighed down his blazer pockets.
.Currently Inactive.
intoxicated ::
I just wanted to tell you guys that this blog is currently inactive-- I've always been on a indefinite hiatus with this account but that's simply because I've found myself occupied with another account I made quite a while ago (along with me having been a busy person kind of). My muse for Haddock is taking a lengthy vacation is all and I'm sure he'll be back inevitably some time or another because I still feel him rattlin' on and cursing up there in my mind... Yeah I just want to emphasize that this account is only temporarily inactive. I don't know how long it will take-- but yeah. I will see you all again sooner or later, my friends!
Find me here!
( aboyreporter ):
Lips lightly curled inward as the reporter was deep in thought. It wasn’t best to interrupt him while working, yet it was always inevitable. Be it by accident or not, the world in which he lived in usually enjoyed throwing a surprise at him whenever he found himself focused on his writing. This night in particular being one of them, and in hearing footsteps across wooden floors did he glance up from his typewriter with a soft—
”Hm?”
A sign that his attention was now directed towards them, though words were yet to be spoken.
It had only been the captain, just as it always had been: quick to interrupt any means of peace and concentration for but a meager 'good evening'. Despite being a fellow prone toward being rather disruptive, what Haddock attempted in this encounter was his very patience. Instead of merely barging in as he'd done so often previously, instead there are rather steady, muted steps along the floor boards as he peeks within the room which his friend operated.
But of course he would be behind the typewriter, stringing together another article for the paper.
" What is that there yer workin' on? "
( steadyasthewind ):
Puzzlement crosses her features, as she tries to discern what the captain’s is saying for his thick accent garbles his words into an unintelligible grumble.
"I’m sorry, what are you talking about?"
" Nothin'. I mean, that would be of any concern tah ye. I'd just been mutterin' tah myself. " Or at least trying, since his pitch of voice could hardly go above a whisper it seems.
" We've met before, haven't we? I know I've seen yer face around and about somewhere before. "
( sidneypoindexterof724 ):
Sidney’s eyes went wide as the bearded man toppled over backwards and he frowned, floating over him and tilting his head.
"Um…Are you okay, sir?"
" B-b-billions of blue blistering barnacles! "
No, the captain hadn't been. It was only expected of a fellow whom took supernatural forces to be nothing more than confounded nonsense!
( inonesuitcase ):
aseacaptain liked this post.
”Wha ? I did?”
" yes, yes--just now, I saw it! "
A sausage of a finger directed both their focus toward but a measly teacup. " The blasted thing scooted a smidge! "
memingxr said: cries because you are actually the captain
"Excuse me, sir--- what exactly is a blue, blistering barnacle?" [ sorry tintin was my childhood and um ]
" Well it's eh, crustacean. Yeh know the sorts of sea 'plants' that stick themselves tah the bottom of boats 'nd whatever else they're likely tah find? "
Had the young lady been a full grown adult, the Captain would have rightly answered something along the lines of 'a doltish rapscallion' but surely that would only drive her away. Cursing at children had not been on his to-do list.
" They get in the way more than they should... So I sort of took tah usin' the phrase when I'm-- " beginning to rolls his eyes, far from enthused,
" Agitated. I guess."
intoxicated ::
it's been 84 years but Haddock is really flowing tonight for whatever reason! hopefully I'll finally get to redoing his theme and all that nonsense!
( sidneypoindexterof724 ):
"Well…sometimes a ghost wants to chance it and chat with someone new, you know." He shrugged, floating in front of him.
" I suppose that's good fer-- "
Whom Haddock spoke of was someone else entirely, emphasis on entirely since he'd clearly associated with palpable organisms and the like!
Stalling a moment longer, the sailor's composure begins to falter and he finds himself flush against the ground beneath him. What he'd estimated was that he'd had far, far too much to drink.
*kisses the captains beard and runs off*
Though it occurred much to quickly for him to have any say so-- or even that of objection, the stranger ran off in that of pinch! Like one of those 'quick footed' gypsies. No matter though, he supposed... Hadn't been as though any damage had been done.
He begins to grumble incoherently.
"Why's it that no one respects personal space anymore?"
"Awfully strange convenience, wouldn't yeh say so? 'Just stoppin' by for a wee chat', that's ridiculous! "
You know why no one makes dresses that look like bananas? They just don't have the appeal. *badumtss*
Now, he wouldn't have to rightfully admit anything-- but the Captain evidently found such corny jokes amusing every now and again... But this one, ten thousand thundering typhoons! Now THAT was a good laugh!
Yes, he had been intoxicated.
Smiles one of her eye catching smiles at his direction.
A double take was needed to further affirm that indeed, the kind gesture had been directed at him and no other. Typically, he’d been unable to attract any sort of positive attention by the ill impression he’d unintentionally given people (often). Though, every few decades so often, there had been the sorts of folk that were generous to share just the smallest of smiles back at him.
Corners of the lips upturned. “What a lovely dame.”
At an impasse, the First Lady could only set her jaw, eyes flashing with anger. Over emotional and impulsive to a fault, the Lady Comstock was practically a ticking time bomb. Bottled up, ready to blow; and in the secluded side-street, no one but the unfortunate Scot would be around to witness the demure, loving Holy Mother lash out. With her inflated sense of pride slowly shrinking, her own foolish insecurities became all the more noticeable to her. She was not getting any younger, of course. Premature strands of grey stood out, fine lines around her eyes became deeper; was plumpness next? Lady Comstock would be far more content to sit and stew than continue to deal with the apologetic man before her, who seemed to believe he could avoid the eventual storm that was coming.
“A simple pardon would have sufficed.” Small hands flew to her hips, fists clenched tightly. The First Lady was a tiny woman, oh yes; but what she lacked in height, she made up with undignified ferocity. The poor man had unwittingly set off a catalyst of bottled up rage, which had never been directed at him in the first place. Unfeeling eyes settled on the grimy suit, refusing to break contact. “Don’t you think?”
No matter what was attempted, how he tried to make up for he'd so 'brazenly' done to offend, there was simply no no way of getting around this woman. This was meant literally as well as figuratively at this point, since he'd apologized more than fingers he could rightly count, it seemed! What yet had been the worst of all this experience was how much fouler the little lady had become in what little time the pair of folk shared. Had he been anything similar to the quiffed reporter, he might have been able to pick up on the obvious distress found in her character that hadn't been stirred ultimately because of him... But he had not, therefore, he concluded her indignation was all his doing.
Eyes locked on the opposed, the captain found his own mood beginning to dwindle. Practically had to assure himself every instant to keep that compassion he'd 'introduced' himself with! Perhaps he wouldn't be the one to put this lady aristocrat in her place, but by god, somebody had to! If she were to stomp around and spout such an attitude, consequences were sure to come chasing after. Finally gritting his teeth, as if a mere child on the verge of being sent to his room, he proceeded reluctantly.
"Pardon me, ma'am."
[ She had never heard of such a thing at least, not within the kingdom. the Tremained certainly would have had none of it. But — it was lucky that Cinderella was so u n l i k e them. ]
“Oh, I meant no harm, monsieur. I only meant that - well - what I mean to say is that you seem to be a special man, deserving of good friends.”
" A-ah, I see then!... I do apologize fer any misconstruction er anythin' of that nature, miss. Simply fallin' behind was all, do fergive me. Suppose I just found myself lost in thought over eh, said friend."
[ Contrary to popular belief, sailors hadn't nearly been as charming as say a proper gentleman. It had been true that he'd achieved the gentlemanly characteristic found in very few men, but he'd been anything but posh. Oh, how he tried though! ]
