”Run. Run until the pain in your legs compensates for the pain in your heart. And then keep running. Run from the shadow that trails you; Opaque and fat with memories, it does nothing but slow you down. Run away until it’s as narrow as a bone. Maybe then you will find yourself feeling as light as the wind that goes against you.” — thesevnth.

El Señor Murciélago. Chalco, 800 a 900 ad. The bat is a servant of Mictlantecuhtli, the Lord of Death. In sacred narrative, Mictlantecuhtli fell in love with xochiquetzal, the avatar of love. He sent the bat to kidnap her, but when he found her, she was too big for him to carry. So he bit of a piece of her vagina to carry back to Mictlantecuhtli. However, in the 12th heaven, Tamoanchan, the teteo stole the piece of vagina from the bat. They bathed it with water, and from the water emerged carnivorous and evil smelling plants and flowers. The bat took back the piece of vagina and flew to Mictlantecuhtli, who bathed it with his own blood. From the blood emerged all of the beautiful, sweet smelling flowers we know today.

I found all kinds of edible berries in the forest today while walking the dog, just 5 minutes from home!
1) salmonberry 2) red huckleberry 3) thimbleberry 4) salal berries (still developing) 5) Oregon grape (still ripening) 6) not a berry, but one beautiful shroom
The huckleberries were perfect to forage today, delicious! So were the salmons. As for the thimbleberries — I knew I recognized them from online PNW berry guides, but this was my first time seeing them wild and I couldn’t identify them! Now that I know, I’ll definitely go back and have a taste!
The most beautiful thoughts are always besides the darkest. Today, I seriously thought about killing you. I contemplated—premeditated murder. And I think about killing myself, And I love myself way more than I love you, so… Today, I thought about killing you—premeditated murder. You’d only care enough to kill somebody you love.

Two icons were lost this week to suicide, but their contributions to the world will never be forgotten. Kate Spade made the fashionably unattainable attainable and @anthonybourdain’s exploration of culture through food opened our eyes to the world. Both will be sorely missed.
Remember, no matter what you are going through, you don’t have to go through it alone. There are resources available to help you.
