Adieu, Asexual Armadillo
The switch is official -- we now have a new little friend over at Asexual Axolotl (asexualaxolotl.tumblr.com). All the new posts will be coming from over there. Asexual Armadillo will stay up (not gonna delete the poor little guy), but there will be no more active postings on this account. See you all at the Axolotl!
On the Voting Process
Now, I know I said I'd keep the voting open until the end of the day Friday, but votes have tapered off pretty considerably since yesterday, with one contender having more than twice the points of our current second place animal.

Our new mascot is: Asexual Axolotl! By a landslide. So right now asexualaxolotl.tumblr.com is up, and the meme has been created. I'm gonna keep Asexual Armadillo up so that it will live in infamy forever, but will from now on be posting all new memes and submissions to Asexual Axolotl. I'll also get a page to generate your own up soon!
And thus, we bid farewell to our lovely Armadillo, and graciously welcome our Axolotl!

On the Armadillo Debate:
After the post letting all know that there is already an armadillo meme (F*ck Yeah English Major Armadillo), we got a bunch of suggestions for other meme animals that would work if we wanted to change, including but not limited to:
Alpaca, Axolotl, Alligator, Amoeba, Aardwolf, Echidna . . . etc.
All of which have their own draws (and levels of cuteness -- Hello, Axolotlface). So I submitted a question to the moderators of fyeahenglishmajorarmadillo to ask what they thought about our double-use of the armadillo. Included in the response:
"I think that, if you actually have ties to Armadillos, there’s no problem with you keeping it. A completely different topic, a different image… should be ok, methinks . . . I mean, if you want to be original, go ahead and change it, but if that’s too much trouble, don’t worry!"
So now I ask: what do YOU think? I'll collect answers through the end of the day Friday -- feel free to send a message or answer this post if you feel strongly either way (changing our little buddy or keeping it how it is), and let me know, if you want to change, what you'd want it to be changed to (not necessarily from the ideas submitted above, could be anything). Come Saturday morning I'll tally up how many people think we should keep our armadillo roots strong vs. how many want a new animal. If there's a higher vote for a new animal than there is for keeping the armadillo, I'll start anew and have it up by Monday! Thoughts?

Wait, can you use the Armadillo? I thought English Majors already claimed that as their spirit animal.
It seems they have, but I don't know of any reason why there can't be two armadillos out there, bein' proud of what they represent.
...Also I was unaware of our English major buddy. If English majors are offended that I accidentally decided to share their mascot without asking, a change might be in order.

For clarification: I'm not saying someone who doesn't see a gynecologist wouldn't encounter this situation, I just assume that a gynecologist would be more likely to keep pressing the issue (which is something I've been told happens fairly often by female ace friends).
