My dear lgbt+ child,
The internet gives anonymity to your words and that can be a lovely thing. Tumblr and other social media can be wonderful safe places where you can openly talk about your sexual and/or romantic orientation or your gender identity.  Especially if you are âstill in the closetâ or surrounded by not-supportive people offline, it can be very helpful to be able to share your feelings online. You might even find lgbt+ friends more easily online than offline (for example, if your access to lgbt+-centered offline places is limited).Â
But the same anonymity sadly also allows narrow-minded or downright hateful people to spread negativity. And, as heartbreaking as it is, youâll even find narrow-minded hateful people inside the lgbt+ community. Â Â
I wish i could provide you with a solution how you can make sure nobody ever will say anything negative about your orientation/gender identity. You deserve to be surrounded with positivity, support and love. While i can sadly not perform a magic spell to keep you away from hatefulness, i will do what i can do to bring positivity onto your dash and into your life.Â
Here are a few tips for how to deal with negativity online:Â
1, You can block people, including anons. Donât be afraid to do that. Tumblr is supposed to be fun, not a constant battle to prove yourself to idiots who comment mean things under your posts. If someone does that, block them and they canât see your posts anymore.Â
2. You can report people if they send you death threats, rape threats, unsolicited sexual messages/pictures etc. Donât be afraid to do that either. They break the guidelines of this website (and in some cases, the law) and you donât need to tolerate that. Donât believe Tumblr will ignore it - From my own experience i can say they are quick to delete blogs that send death threats. They donât tolerate that and neither do you have to. Â
3. Turning off anon often dramatically reduces the number of hateful messages you receive. Bullies are cowards, they think twice before they send hate off-anon.Â
With love,Â

how to make (more) friends
make the first step - if you like this girlâs necklace, go and tell her.Â
ask them questions - this shows you are interestedÂ
dont force things, real friendships are based on honesty, trust and it will take some time
share with them personal stuff, this makes them feel special (as they know something which is a secret)
criticize them when they are around and protect them when they are not
have inside jokes, like somthing you find funny but others wouldnât understand
be faithful and treat them the way you would like to be treated
there will be situations when you wonât share the same opinion, think about which is more important to you - to end up right or to keep your friendship
have sleepovers or make girls/boys nights without posting 32143 photos on the social media, this makes it fake
dont ignore your closest ones because you have found a lover
dont take your friends for granted
