Symbols in the Ace Community:

With only 1% of people in the world being asexual(according to one study), it can be a bit difficult to find other people within the ace community during our daily lives. Not many people like to openly express their sexuality, especially in the day and age we currently live in. Because of this, many communities have certain items/colors that serve as symbols so that members of these communities can easily communicate/relate with other members. With that being said, the ace community is no exception to this! 

Here are some of the symbols that are commonly used in the ace community:

The Asexual Flag

The asexual flag is one of the most iconic symbols within the ace community. Each color represents a specific item within the community:

Black: Asexuality

Gray: Gray-A and Demisexuality

White: Sexuality

Purple: Community

The AVEN Triangle

The AVEN Triangle is a symbol that AVEN (Asexual Visibility and Education Network) uses to represent themselves. Over time, it has come to be a common symbol to represent the ace community, as well. For more information on this symbol and what it stands for, please go here.

Cake

Cake is a common symbol/tradition/joke within the ace community. It was first used on the AVEN forums to welcome newcomers to the community and chatrooms. Since then, it has become an informal symbol, of sorts, with many members referencing it by saying such things as “Cake is better than sex.”

The Black Ring Around the Middle Finger of the Right Hand

Having a black ring on the middle finger of your right hand is a subtle way of showing others in public that you are part of the ace community.

Ace of Hearts and Ace of Spades

The ace of hearts and ace of spades are used in the asexual community to represent romantic orientation of asexuals (due to members referring themselves as “ace”).  The ace of hearts card is used to represent romantic asexuals while the ace of spades card is used to represent aromatic asexuals. Not all people within the asexual community use this method; however, there are some who do.

Starting Up + Dating Profiles

Hello everyone! This right here is the grand opening of asexualsluts, which hopefully will be better known as An Asexual Dating Blog. 

A couple of weeks ago I went looking for a Asexual Dating tumblr, and the only one that I found hadn’t been updated in over two years. Our mission (I guess) is to provide a place where asexuals (and others that fall somewhere on the asexual scale) can easily find other asexuals that are interested in anything from relationships to just simple friendships. 

Because of the fact that this blog is still in a sort of Beta mode, we are now asking for help and for some people who are interested to create and submit a Dating Profile.

Basically we are now open for profile submissions. If anyone is interested in submitting a profile, we would be very thankful if you formatted it in a similar way to the example below.

Name: Example 

Your full name is not required

Tumblr: An Asexual Dating Site (asexualsluts.tumblr.com)

It would be best if you used your main tumblr url if you have side blogs as well.

Age: # (please put your actual age)

We will not publish anyones profile if they are under the age of 15. If we are not sure whether or not you are lying about your actual age, we will contact you to make sure. 

Gender: Female/Male/Genderfluid/Nonbinary/etc. 

Please write whatever gender it is you identify with. We will not exclude any genders or people when publishing profiles. 

Pronouns: he/she/his/her/they/them/etc.

This question is optional and does not have to be answered.

Sexuality/Romantic Attraction: Asexual/Panromantic/etc.

While this is an Asexual dating blog, we will not exclude anyone who is still questioning their sexuality, has any particular romantic attractions, or falls anywhere on the Asexual scale. 

Picture and/or Physical Description: I look like a human being (and/or an Image)

We ask that you provide a quick physical description of yourself AND/OR attach a photo of yourself at the beginning of your profile submission. 

Attaching a photo is completely and utterly optional.

About Me: I am an example to explain what how to make a profile. I am sorry if I am treating you like you are dumb that is not my intention.

You may write any information that you think is relevant or necessary to your own profile. 

I’m Looking For: a relationship/friendship/etc.

This can range anywhere from what type of relationship you want, what gender or sex you are looking for in a partner, physical looks, or even personality (or anything else really). 

Though this is supposed to be a ‘dating’ blog, if there are people who are just looking for any platonic relationships we will post a profile if submitted.

Any Other Information You Want to Add:

Every profile submitted will be tagged appropriately, as well as updated or taken down at the submitters request. We will reblog every active Profile once a month so that they continue to circulate the blog and not get lost in the archives (if there ever are even enough profiles for anything to get lost in).
