Just a quick reminder that...

Tony’s whole problem in iron man one was a fear that his weapons would fall into the wrong hands, and that’s why he hid the Mark II suit from Stark industries and everyone around him, because he was afraid it would fall into the wrong hands.

His armour is his greatest creation of all, a weapon solely used for making peace, yet in the wrong hands it could lead to the end of the world. So when he gives it to people, it shows just how much he trusts them. How much he cares about Rhodey and Pepper and Peter, and just how much he trusts that they’ll stay by his side no matter what.

So when Tony gives someone a suit, it’s more than just him showing that he cares about them. It’s showing that he trusts them dearly and he knows they’ll always do the right thing.
