Straight women should unionize
What the actual FUCK
This right here is a HUGE red fucking flag. If you’re in a relationship with someone who wants complete control over finances, especially to the point where you don’t even have access to money, this is an attempt to control and isolate. They will use ALL sorts of excuses. “I’m better with money” “You spend too much” “You’re too impulsive” etc. It has nothing to do with looking out for you or money. It’s straight up abuse and will likely lead to worse.
Also, women need to be independent in every way they can. And they also need to know what’s going on with their finances, even if their husband makes all the decisions or whatever bs goes on. Because (true story), one day that husband could die and you’ll find out that you’re in a crazy amount of debt that you never knew about because he didn’t tell you shit and that gets to be a lovely surprise after the funeral.
Women should ABSOLUTELY be independent and you should ABSOLUTELY keep your banking separate.
HOWEVER!
If you are in that circumstance?
Grocery shopping and gas stations and big box stores are your BEST friend. I know we’re in a pandemic but put on an N-95 and go. Use your debit card every time and take out 20-40 dollars each time you shop for these sorts of things because that doesn’t read as a withdrawal. It counts as part of the shopping. Women have been doing this for GENERATIONS now. My mother did it when my father was financially abusing her and she taught me and now? I pas this on to you.
Take your 20-40 dollars a trip and put the cash somewhere he won’t look.
Where won’t he look? With a friend who he doesn’t want to know. In the yard he expects you to care for. In the laundry he won’t do. In the kids room where he doesn’t go because that is your job. In the dog food he expects you to refill.
Or.
In you can take that money and put it a fucking bank he doesn’t use. Under your name and your name ONLY. Because when you leave him - which on average will take 7 attempts because thats how many times it takes to leave an abuser - you will need all the money you can squirrel away. Depending on how often a woman runs absolutely necessary errands and how much money a family makes, she can squirrel away 1K+ in a year this way which may not seem like much but it’s enough for a softer landing than ZERO especially if she’s not working.
Take care of yourself ladies.
Same goes for the opposite men. I’ve seen it happen where a woman controlled all the money and was financially abusing the man. It happens to everyone and keep yourself safe.
And this isn’t a “straight” thing. It’s an abusive thing.
Right, because if you don’t think this happens in queer relationships, you are sadly mistaken.
i am BEGGING y’all to watch season one of stargate

The freedom to protest needs to be protected more than ever. (x)

THEY ARE SYSTEMATICALLY TAKING AWAY OUR RIGHTS & FREE SPEACH, IF THEY SUE THEN YOU SUE BACK. IF THEY FIGHT, FIGHTBACK.
America lives and dies by the constitution until constitutional rights are protecting the wrong people then they must intervene.
“One proposed bill in North Dakota would protect drivers who “accidentally” run over protesters” This would mean that terrorist attacks can get legalized as well
Conservatives always talk about fearing the “removal of free speech” but they will support this bullshit that is directly hindering free speech because they profit from systematic oppression
After seeing the dad how do I channel, I really wanted this one. I searched for it and, tada! Mom how do I? Seems rather new, but I love it anyway.
This is such a cute and helpful idea, especially since some people either didn’t grow up with someone who could teach them this stuff or they grew up with parents who did everything for them. I knew a lot of guys in college who didn’t know how to do laundry or cook!

Awww this is so cute and very useful!!!

You: I want a story with a woman as a main character who is strong and goes on all kinds of adventures and who learns to stand up for herself and for what is right and no longer takes the bullshit that men throw at her and I still want her to have a love interest but it wont make her weak and fragile and it wont be the eventual goal for her to give up everything for him because she is still her own person with her own hopes and dreams and plans for the future and I want her love interest to understand this and accept her for who she is. And at the same time I want this story to contain a variety of characters, like a gay couple who do not die at end of the story but have a happy ever after in store for them, or a nice guy who realises his mistakes and grows out of it, giving a good example of how none of the characters are flawless, but how all of them are trying to be better as the story progresses.
Me; You mean the Graceling trilogy by Kristin Cashore? Yeah, I agree.
vegans who refuse to even eat backyard eggs….why
people who think its unethical to eat chicken eggs are like people who think bees should keep all their honey. they literally produce more than they need and your unwillingness to even buy local means you are doing nothing to help them, support your small farmers you heathens
This is not true.
1) honeybees do not produce “extra honey.” And beekeepers don’t take some of the honey, they take all of it.
2) chickens have been artificially selected from naturally producing eggs once a month to producing eggs every couple of days. Their bodies are not sustainable and the health complications of this rapid egg production kills chickens.
Hey idk who like. Lied to you about the way honey farms work, but could you stop spreading misinformation? Are you a beekeeper?
Because I am!
Beekeepers make sure hives are fed before there is pollen in the air, protected from predators and the elements, and have enough honey to sustain themselves. We don’t take all of it.
But overproduction of honey leads to stagnation in the hive. It puts stress on the queen to lay eggs, and when they inevitably fill up all their space with honey (instead of filling up the multiple empty, clean boxes of frames beekeepers might put on top of the main hive box), the queen can get so stressed she dies. If there’s a spike in the weather and the hive hasn’t prepared new queen brood, that’s it! The colony is dead. Because there wasn’t enough space for eggs and honey in the hive.
Beekeepers take excess honey. We are constantly monitoring the state of the hive, checking for parasites, analyzing the eggs for diseases, and making sure they are fed and healthy (usually with sugar water and pollen substitutes until they have made enough honey to sustain themselves in the early spring months). If a queen dies prematurely, we make every attempt to replace her to save the colony.
I know there’s an urge to patronize everyone who works in the farming industry, but try to understand the differences between small scale agriculture and industrial farming. There IS a difference. And stop spreading misinformation.
If you’re this passionate about ethical consumption, look into some of the ecofeminist research on non-hierarchal interspecies relationships (working on building animal-human relationships in a non exploitative way).
But yeah! Stop spreading misinformation! Please 🐝
Also if I can harp on the chicken part?
Yea Chickens are some of the most abused animals on big factory farms and I’ll be the first to admit it’s criminal and more needs to be done to regulate this.
Yes selective breeding over time has caused an increase in the ammount of eggs produced by chickens and factory farms have some messed up practices to get more eggs from them including forced moutling.
THIS IS WHY YOU SUPPORT LOCAL FARMERS AND THEIR EGGS
Many people take to raising their own hens because of America’s immoral treatment of hens in factory farms like you’re not helping the poor chicks by starving these farmers financially you’re just hurting the one people trying to change things and making the OPTION of cage free organic cruelty free eggs even harder to find
Yeah, as someone who like… lives on a chicken and duck farm… Coops help keep wild animals out but birds are kinda dumb. And chickens literally do not need to keep the unfertilized eggs!
Most chickens will sit on unfertilized eggs until they can tell if they are or not… By the smell of rotting egg. Yeah, ew. Farmers can hold that bitch to the flashlight and tell if there’s a baby in there! They know! The eggs are not being abused!
Also, if you separate your cocks and your hens, there wont even be that issue in the first place. Egg-laying is basically chicken menstruation, but unlike mammalian menstruation which is full of blood and dead tissue, chicken menstruation is full of tasty tasty nutrients
Support local farms! Most grocery stores carry eggs from small, local farms that give hens acres of open pasture and healthier housing.
Also, that “selectively bred to lay eggs more often” thing? Literally just comes from feeding the chickens every day. The chicken’s ancestors would only lay an egg when there was abundant food, so people started feeding them every day to get more eggs. That’s it.
I’m gunna go out on a limb and say this is one of the many and interestingly depressing ways modern education has failed. People don’t know where their food comes from, how it is handled, why things are done the way they are done, etc.
I’m in the UK and had to tell one of the chefs where I work off for taking up space in the fridges with eggs that didn’t need to be refrigerated. He was confused and had to look up why. We don’t wash our eggs/bleach them of the protective membrane that Americans do, the way we handle our eggs is fundamentally different but aimed at the same thing - preventing salmonella poisoning. I knew this because we rescued a half-plucked chicken making her grand escape from the chicken nugget factory, Heggity Hen was booking it across the carpark and about to hit moving traffic when my dad caught her and brought her home where six year old me was utterly DELIGHTED by this half-plucked gremlin escape artist. I even consider the broken finger I got when my brother slammed the cardoor on my hand after we dropped her off at the RSPCA the following week worth it to see her go to a good farm that would take care of her - and the ‘secret’ knowledge of eggs and poultry production that I learned from the lady behind the counter.
But with the internet this knowledge is easy to find, but so are all the lies. It sounds stupid, but why does home economics/cooking not teach this information? Has this class just vanished from the curriculum? We covered a little bit about it in Geography when I was in school, the differences between agricultural industries, but I think that was simply my teacher’s personal interest and trying to keep a class of thirty fourteen year old girls engaged in learning about Europe and India and soil acidity.
Okay two things
1) every time I see something like this, or photos of wild unrealistic landscapes that really exist, or spectacular architecture, whatever it is, I think again that when we write fantasy, we NERF REALITY. That is, here’s some dude with a special interest and a brain that somehow lacks basic self preservation mechanisms, and he’s out here looking like a super hero. Regular humans are capable of things we seem super human. Real landscapes are more fantastical than our fantasies. Reality is more fantastical than our fantasies.
2) how the fuck did he not kick out any windows that’s the most impressive part of the whole video.
this man is his own zombie apocalypse team, adding anyone else would just slow him down
So as someone who used to teach parkour back in the day, this dude isn’t just talented. His technique is amazing.
It’s not just about not kicking out windows. Controlling how you land is about shock absorption, about minimizing the strain on your joints. It also makes you quieter when you move. A good landing should be as silent as possible, because loud landings hurt. That’s the foundation of everything else you do in parkour. So by the time you’re climbing buildings, if you’re breaking windows it means you don’t have enough control to land safely and it’s time to go back to your ground basics.
I'm kind of glad to hear that everyone does this. Because it means it isn't colonizer bullshit, it's what everyone does. It's just people discovering new things. Everyone goes:
"Oh hey these people have their own style of [language A's word for thing. Say, what do you call it?"
"Oh it's [language B's word for thing]."
"Got it, it's [language B's word for thing] variety [language A's word for thing]"
The human race just naturally moon moons itself
Gettin’ Bi - Crazy Ex-Girlfriend
everyone please watch this rock ballad in which a middle-aged man sings about being bisexual
No, but can we talk about how, for once, it’s a middle-aged DUDE being shown as bi? I know that sounds weird, but it is always a fucking young and pretty woman who is labeled bi in media, and then they fuck it up. They always fuck it up.
Now it’s stuck in my head again. Whee? (It’s so 1980s! It’s perfect!)
Woah. Looks like I should be watching this show.
It’s a wonderful show with a terrible (if accurate) title, but that the mustachioed man turns out to be bi AFTER I started watching? Hell, yeah!
Please play this on repeat at my funeral.
Did…did I just watch a fictional character say he’s bi on actual TV? What’s more, about three dozen times? In front of a giant bi pride flag?
I feel funny. Is this real life?
everyone stop what you’re doing right now and watch this even if you’ve already seen it watch it again and bask in the representation
I think I just heard the word “bisexual” more in this one song than I have in decades of TV content????
This. This is how I’m coming out to my family.
@mrkittenski
I have a lot of pet peeves but I think the biggest one is when people say things like “oh it’s such a small town, only 35,000 people” like bitch my town has 200 people, you need to pick a new adjective
According to Wikipedia, a small town is 1,000-20,000 people. So although you are correct in stating that 35,000 people is not a small town (it is a large town), you are incorrect in thinking that you live in a town. You live in a village. You are a villager.
I…… don’t know what to do with that information……a villager…
It’s weird how like, when this pandemic started there was all this talk about a vaccine and it taking so much time to produce, test, and manufacture once it had been approved. but then the medical community worldwide worked like never before develop a vaccine to a new, never before seen virus, and people are refusing to take it because they think it was rushed, despite hundreds upon hundreds of clinical trials with a very, very minuscule amount of people suffering from side effects of the vaccine. Most of the people worried about that vaccine have never had a negative experience with the vaccine before in their lives, yet there’s so much doubt around the vaccine and trust in it that it’s going to be harmful when there’s like, no evidence to support any of that.
All of this!!! I’m in med school right now, as a result I know many many people who were directly involved with every step of the covid vaccine creation process. All of them, literally all of them, keep saying how the only reason we were able to get a vaccine so soon was because of the unbelievably high amount of funding and media attention they were getting. The reason the vaccines seem to have come out “too early,” isn’t because the science was rushed, it’s because there were unprecedented numbers of people working 24/7 on this. The trials finished so quickly because unprecedented numbers of people signed up for the trials, do you know how hard it is to even get funding for trials?????? Let alone how hard it normally is to get people to sign up for them???? The size of the subject pools for these studies were astronomical, the kind where in class your professor would say “...but you’d never find that many people willing to join your study within the time constraints you’d have.” There will always be people who react badly to a substance, hell there are people who are allergic to sunlight, that doesn’t automatically make appropriate doses of the substance dangerous for the vast majority of people.
