THE EXCITED STEPS OF MOLLY DRAKE can be heard from the bedroom across the hallway.  her cheery tone loud enough to wake  ANYBODY  that was sleeping within the same house.  alex stirs at first,  a light grumble leaving her lips when she feels the force as the child jumps onto the bed and climbs upon her.    ❝  it’s CHRISTMAS !! mommy ... stella,  it’s christmas. can we see if father christmas has been? i’ve been a good girl, i hope he’s left me lots of presents.  ❞     it’s still dark,  alex grumbling a little as she forces herself to wake up,  leaning over to switch the lamp on that is situated on the little cabinet beside her. 

  ❝  merry christmas, sweetheart.  you’ve been a very good girl . . .  shall we go and see if he’s been ?  ❞  she pats molly on the back, smiling as the little girl giggles and hops onto the woman beside her, lightly and almost innocently shaking her.    ❝  STELLA !  stella, wake up ... it’s christmas. ❞

MINERVA  ALLORY  !   it’s a name that has a ring to it.  unusual and yet so very fitting for a woman as  BEAUTIFUL  as the one before her.  she would expect nothing more than  an  elegant  name to be worn by a  WOMAN  like  minerva.  alex would probably be intimidated  . . .  if she wasn’t so IMPRESSED.   ❝  it’s a pleasure to meet you,  ms allory  --- minerva.   ❞   she corrects herself,  her own hand extending to take the other’s within her grasp.  and she shakes it, as is intended.  ❝  and can i just say that,  on behalf of the police force and C.I.D that we’re very honoured and very pleased to be working alongside you. we wouldn’t be able to do our jobs without women like you.  ❞

A  FINGER  TRAILS  ALONG  THE  RIM  OF  HER  MUG,   steaming hot coffee warming up her flesh as  hazel  green hues  watch  the woman opposite her.  she’s found a friend in  DOTTIE  UNDERWOOD  --- something she has failed to find in anybody else in this time period.  of course,  there was gene hunt,  her partner in crime  . . .  but he wasn’t a real friend,  he was a colleague, an associate when it came to her job.   DOTTIE,  she was something else, a female friend, somebody alex already believed that she could trust.  and she does trust her.  perhaps more than she should.   (  it just feels so nice to de-stress and let off steam about her job  )   IT’S NICE TO DO IT WITH SOMEBODY WHO ISN’T GENE BLOODY HUNT.      ❝  i’d love to watch you dance sometime.  ❞   every word that drips from her pale lips is the honest truth.  she’s  EAGER  to watch her friend  . . .  she has always been a fan of ballet.  it amazes her,  it  fascinates  her.    ❝   do you have a show any time soon ?  if i’m not working,  i’d love to buy a ticket.  ❞
