Elena tried to get the hat - an early Christmas gift from Simmons - on Mack’s head. It was a tough feat, given that she was barely as tall as his shoulders, but it was a feat she managed to accomplish nonetheless. Mack couldn’t deny, however, that he was much warmer in the hat. Perhaps he would let his pride slip just this one time.

“Alright,” Mack said, allowing Elena to adjust the hat triumphantly. “If that’s what you want.”

“I'm not strong enough to live in a world that doesn't have you in it.”

I really love the phrasing of this quote because it says so much about Fitz’s love for Jemma. It’s not, “I’m not strong enough to live without you”  implying he needs to be in relationship with her, or even that he needs her with him. It’s not that specific. He’s not asking her to chose him, he’s not saying he needs her to chose him, there is absolutely no pressure on Jemma from this statement. He’s just saying he needs her alive. It is a concise, specific explanation for why he is doing what he’s doing.  

He just needs to know she’s there, somewhere, doing the things she does. Being her brave, brilliant (sassy) self. He loves all that she is not just what she can be to him. 

 All he’s saying her very presence, alive, in the world, is so incredible and makes up so much of it’s beauty for him that he can’t imagine being able to live in a world that is lacking that.
