It’s just funny. 🤓
not to worry - short shbk one-shot
(CW: Mentions of Injury, Hearing Loss)
had this in my wips since forever and finished it and thought I'd post it here.
><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><
It had been a quiet morning for Hitoshi. By the time he made it to class, he’d gotten his fourth cup of coffee done. Katsuki would chew his ear off about how unhealthy his caffeine addiction was. Good thing Hitoshi had gotten rid of the cup so there’d at least be no evidence.
Class 3-A was already packed with students, Hitoshi probably being one of the last ones to make it. Aizawa still wasn't there, so he wasn't too worried.
His eyes skimmed over his friends' faces, acknowledging them with a nod, before he stopped at the corner left spot of the first row. Two seats behind it, Midoriya looked nervous. Oddly enough, Katsuki should have been one of the first to be in class. Maybe he was using the restroom.
Hitoshi made his way over, taking his seat in front of Midoriya, who he nodded at in greeting.
The bell rang and a minute later Aizawa slipped through the door, taking his seat achingly slow. He let out a deep, long sigh before unpacking a few notes.
With every passing second, the empty space in front of Hitoshi left him with a strange gut feeling. Pondering it wasn't necessary though, as Aizawa finally addressed them.
“Welcome back. I see everyone's looking good as far as internships go.” Aizawa skimmed the room full of tired students. Quite a few looked amongst themselves with a few gazes stopping at the one empty desk.
“I see you noticed Bakugou's absence. He’s been in a quirk related accident during his last week and is currently in Recovery Girls care.”
Aizawa eyed the room again before directing his gaze at Hitoshi as he continued, “No, there's no need to worry, Bakugou's fine. He’s in high spirits but still on bedrest. He’ll join us next week.” His eyes narrowed at Hitoshi, “No need to worry!”
It wouldn't matter how many times Aizawa reassured them about Katsuki, Hitoshi was still worried. Kneading his hands, Hitoshi sunk down in his seat, his chin hitting his desk. It must've looked quite strange but Hitoshi didn't care.
Aizawa continued with his lesson and Hitoshi could feel his friends’ gazes on him. He could ignore them, he’d done it before. It wasn't until the bell finally rang to indicate break time, that Hitoshi jumped up and dashed out of the room. Even Aizawa wasn't quick enough with his capture weapon.
Hitoshi dodged other students as he ran through the halls, closing in on the Infirmary. Katsuki getting hurt explained a lot. He hadn't really answered Hitoshi's messages or calls and Hitoshi had simply assumed Katsuki was busy. Now he knew that that hadn't exactly been the case.
He arrived at Recovery Girl's office not even four minutes later. She gave him quite the stern look when he barged into the room without knocking.
Hitoshi bowed in apology. “I’m here to see Bakugou.”
Recovery Girl eyed him suspiciously before letting out a deep sigh. “One moment.” She picked up her phone, dialling what Hitoshi assumed was Aizawa's number and having a short chat.
“Right.” She hummed, saying her goodbyes before addressing Hitoshi again. “You may see him. But you do not get longer than fifteen minutes. You still have class to attend.” Accompanying her words was a wave of hand towards the infirmary rooms and Hitoshi thanked her before entering them.
Katsuki sat at the side table near the window, covered in bandages from head to toe, calmly slurping some sort of shake. Hitoshi let out a small breath; Katsuki looked better than anticipated.
He moved toward Katsuki, who noticed the approach and turned his head. It took a good second for Katsuki to recognise Hitoshi, not that Hitoshi had done any changes to his appearance.
“Hey.” He whispered, afraid he would break Katsuki just by speaking. The latter nodded briefly before waving at the empty chair opposite his.
Hitoshi took his seat, awkwardly waiting for Katsuki to speak, when the latter moved his hands to sign instead.
My vocal cords got injured. My hearing too. I can't speak.
Hitoshi's eyes widened. That's worse than he anticipated.
Shit that's awful!
He signed in response. He dropped his clammy hands back into his lap, unable to come up with anything else to tell. He looked down, watching his hands tremble ever so slightly on top of his legs. The beat of his heart was thrumming loudly in his ears.
Why was he so anxious? Katsuki was okay, he was in good care. Nothing to worry about anymore.
Bandaged hands reached for his own, engulfing them carefully. Hitoshi's eyes widened and he looked up. Katsuki's red eyes shone with determination. He squeezed Hitoshi's hands as if to convey to him that he was going to be okay.
Hitoshi took a deep breath and Katsuki let go of his hands to sign again.
It sucks but I've had worse. I'll survive. Besides, you can be my interpreter.
Katsuki smirked at him and Hitoshi rolled his eyes but returned it with his own smile.
Sure - My rate is 50 bucks an hour.
Katsuki raised both his brows and shook his head fondly.
So, how fast did you run here when you found out I was injured?
A shit-eating grin split Katsuki's face in half and Hitoshi gasped in offense before pouting his way. This wasn't fair, he'd really been worried about Katsuki.
Screw you! At least I waited for break time. I was just worried about you, asshole. I didn't hear from you the past few days and assumed you were busy only to find out you got injured!
Hitoshi's hands slowed down at the end and he frowned at Katsuki to underline his worry. There was this particular twinkle in Katsuki's eyes, one that only Hitoshi got to see and he felt himself melt under the other's gaze.
You, worried about me?I'm honored.
Hitoshi clicked his tongue and wanted to chew Katsuki out for being reckless and also an idiot when he was suddenly pulled forward by his tie. He blinked at Katsuki who sent him a small smirk, tilting his head and then pressing a soft kiss to Hitoshi's lips.
He sighed, closing his eyes and returning Katsuki's kiss. It was slow but also demanding and Hitoshi felt the small table press into his stomach as he leaned closer to Katsuki, who cupped his cheek with his free hand. Hitoshi put his hands on the table in front of him to stabilise his position and meet Katsuki's kissing demands until they had to part to each take a deep breath.
Hitoshi felt dazed and by the looks of Katsuki's flushed face he must have felt the same. A moment later Katsuki coughed violently and Hitoshi immediately jumped up to offer some help by grabbing the glass of water from the bedside table. Katsuki clapped against his chest while holding another hand in front of his mouth. His eyes were watering and Hitoshi felt his chest ache at the sight.
He placed the glass down in front of Katsuki, leaving a comforting hand on Katsuki's back and kissing the top of his head softly. Katsuki took a deep breath which looked like it was painful and then took the glass to take a careful sip of water.
You okay?
Hitoshi signed as soon as Katsuki had managed to get his coughing under control and Katsuki rubbed the small tears out of his eyes and nodded.
Still happens sometimes.
He responded, looking much weaker than before and Hitoshi bit his lips in worry. Katsuki could probably tell how worried Hitoshi was because he waved him off.
But it's nothing. It'll go away as soon as my throat heals.
If you say so.
Hitoshi replied, rubbing soothing circles over Katsuki's back as he knelt beside him. Katsuki sent him a grateful smile before leaning in to kiss his cheek and Hitoshi felt himself blush. Katsuki got up to make his way back to his bed where he slipped under the covers and Hitoshi moved to sit by his side.
Go back to class. I'll see you after.
Katsuki signed and Hitoshi pouted at being told to leave. Katsuki was tilting his head and scowling at him in this way he always did whenever he wasn't up for arguing and Hitoshi bit the inside of his lip, redirecting his pout toward the ceiling but then nodding.
Fine. I can make you some ramen for dinner.
Katsuki's lips pulled back up into a grin and he nodded his head.
Can't wait. But don't make it too spicy, I'm not allowed yet.
Hitoshi hummed in agreement, forgetting for a second Katsuki couldn't hear him. He leaned forward one last time, pecking Katsuki's lips and then got up.
Love you!
Hitoshi felt his heart ache at the signs. He blew Katsuki a kiss before moving his own hands.
Love you too.
When Hitoshi returned to class he was chastised by Aizawa for running off so suddenly. He was lucky enough not to get detention for it but Aizawa made sure he knew he was on thin ice. His friends on the other hand bombarded him with questions and Hitoshi dodged most of them by telling them Katsuki would be fine. Though he wasn't sure he wasn't saying it more to calm himself than get his classmates off his back.
Well, if Katsuki said he'd be fine then Hitoshi was legally required to believe him.

Why Tumblr Has Rolled Out ID Verification
UK legislation: Online Safety Act 2023
Brazil legislation: Digital Statute For Children And Adolescents
Apple App Store Age Verification
These are not tumblr specific policies. Tumblr is implementing age verification in response to legislative moves that were made months ago.
Tumblr is a failing social media site that has escaped death multiple times already; they do not have the social cachet to defy state regulatory agencies. We know they won't say no to Apple, either--the porn ban on tumblr was in response to Apple's crackdown on explicit content.
If you did not know this was happening, you were behind the curve. That is fine. You're caught up now. The next step is to link up with people in your country who are working to preserve privacy, to roll back these laws where they exist, and to prevent their passage where they do not. In the US the organization you want is Stop KOSA--in the EU you can start with Fight Chat Control.
Repealing ID verification and blocking chat control will help everyone, especially the most vulnerable. We can push this back, but we cannot get it done through the Feedback form. We have to get it done at the legislative level and lock it down so it cannot be forced upon us. I see lots of anger out there. Good. Put it to use.
Folks if you go to the Stop Kosa website there's a *super quick* form that will figure out your legislators and auto send them an email from you. (There's a script, you don't have to figure out what to write.)
They'll also give ypu a phone number and a script if you're up to make a call.
