“And who would they be? Henry and his prison friends that you drop of care packages too?”, he taunted once more, walking along the street beside her in the direction of his care. Pierce had been to visit Henry twice, he’d expected the male to come and see him after he was released temporary due to medical testing for any mental illness that might get him off easy – but he didn’t. “Hey, the amount of family members in that place was enough to do your head it, I can’t keep track of my own life let alone anyone else's”, he added, closing her parted jaw with two fingers pressed against her chin. “We’re calling this a date”, he responded, mostly because deep down he knew Adriane wanted it to be and also, Pierce enjoyed rubbing the blonde the wrong way, considering Adriane had done plenty of that herself back at the mansion. Pulling his keys from his pocket, Pierce unlocked his car – new, but semi-used. “I’d offer to open your car door, but I wouldn’t want this date to be too date-y”, he explained, moving around to his side of the vehicle and popping inside. Her comment about his wife made Pierce crease his brow, he merely started the car, unsure what to say in fear of either ruining the night or ruining his mood. “Ex-wife”, he paused, clarifying to the blonde that this was the situation. “After I refused to tell her where I’d been for the last two years, it was kind of the last straw”, he admitted, making sure Adriane was buckled in and ready to go before pulling out from the curb. “Doesn’t really matter, we don’t love each other anymore anyway”, he shrugged. “But she was a nice girl, didn’t deserve to be left in the dark”, silence ate at Declan for a moment before he returned the question. “What about you, any boys on the scene?”, he asked, sounding like a total grandpa.

"Wouldn't you like to know.” The blonde’s eyes narrowed playfully, smirking softly as she continued walking at his side. Just a marginally clever, joking response; sad fact of the matter being that, honestly, she didn’t really hear stuff like that any more. If you could even believe it, the ‘real’ world was actually colder than the mansion had been. ‘The Erased gang’ had at least some members with a sense of humour about her personality... here? Not so much. Stupid, was a common one. Immature. Wasting her life away. Surrounded by people with plans for themselves in her new college life, And there was only so many times her sisters could tell her she really was worth something and that Henry could give her one of those dumb, ‘you’re alright’ kind of smiles before their effect would lessen, and the self-respect she’d built up at the mansion would start to wither away. “Well, forgive me for thinking I was special,” she teased again, fighting back quiet laughter as her eyes lifted to meet his, gentle touch on her chin stirring her attention right back out from her own mind. And then, rolling her eyes with a slight smile still curved up onto her lips, she pulled open the passenger door and slid into the car. Her head nodded, somewhat solemnly, at the brief explanation -- something she honestly didn’t expect, causing her to blink in surprise. “Hey... can’t help falling out of love, right? No doubt you’ll find some classy, headstrong, hot as hell CEO-type to fall in love with in a year or two.” She gave a slight shrug, the pauses in his speech indicating it definitely wasn't a topic he was eager to discuss. Head turning to look out of the window, she almost cringed at the question being shot right back at her -- without a doubt not wanting to be completely honest. “---Yeah,” she eventually admitted, “I have a boyfriend. Kinda. Not really. I mean I don’t really love him the way he wants, and he walked out on me, a couple weeks ago, but... he always comes right back, so.” Her hands clasped in her lap, Adriane fidgeting in her seat and awkwardly glancing around the car’s interior. Her eyes eventually found a home on the car’s dashboard, tongue running over her lower lip before she spoke again. “I had sex with Dante -- just the once, maybe. I was upset and it just kinda... yeah. Abbott asked me to marry him, then again that was like five minutes after I told him my mom’d overdosed, so -- all he got was a punch in the face. Sober, I haven’t really looked at anyone else, but drunk, I... don’t really remember. Sometimes I’ll wake up and there’ll be a guy’s shoe on my bedroom floor, or I’ll wake up in some hotel room by myself, but I never remember what or who I did. A part of me thinks I'm kinda going crazy.” A completely terrifying over-share, she realized, that made her blood run cold with embarrassment and dread. Adri gave a weak, masking laugh, tucking her hair behind her ear and still not quite looking in his direction as he drove. “---Word of advice. Every time you ask for a detail of how my life’s been... you’ll probably regret it.”
