How many books by African-American/black authors do you own? . . That was my challenge with this photo and honestly...I’m disappointed. This is all I have? That’s awful! . . I’m currently reading Ta-Nehisi Coates “Between the World & Me” in honor of Black History Month and it’s making me ask myself hard questions. . . Who is your favorite contemporary YA author? . . I am in love. My first book by Emma Mills was First & Then a retelling of Pride & Prejudice (my fav), then Foolish Hearts was included in an owlcrate back in early 2018, I think? And I loved that one too. It’s a retelling of Midsummer’s Night Dream. And now I’m finally reading This Adventure Ends. . . It. Is. So. Good. I’m about 100 pages in and I’ve already laughed a ton. I have two quotes already in my favorite quotes section of my book journal. Slade is who I wish I was if I were better on my witty timing. I NEED her latest book which came out just a few weeks ago. Have I showed you all that I caved? I caved to the pressure that is books by color. I honestly didn’t think I had enough to make it worth it. So many of my books are black. And you can still see I have hardly any green or purple... . . But while I thought this would drive me nuts, I love it! Do you cover buy? What is the most gorgeous cover you own? . . I have absolutely know idea what this book is even about but I think it absolutely is one of the most gorgeous I own. I love the colors and the girls hair and the picture inside. It’s beautiful to me. Though! I absolutely adore mythology. You can ask my boss, who I regaled with stories of how Orion was put in the sky just on Saturday. . . And yet! These are the only mythology books I own?!😱😱 I’m saddened in myself. I have a lot of retellings, but not many straight mythology. My copy of The Odyssey is missing here, at least... . . I finished Circe this evening and thought it was wonderful. I read it slow, as it felt slow, but purposefully slow. As if I were the goddess herself living out my eternity slowly. Today’s challenges were “quote about dreams” and favorite book couple. . . I took the easy route with the dream quote. How do you not use this line from A Court of Mist and Fury? And while I could’ve done Feyre/Rhysand, I didn’t want to be so predictable. My favorite couple from ACOTAR is Nesta/Cassian anyway... . . So for my favorite couples I went with Day and June from Legend series by Marie Lu. I like how they look out for each other and respect each other’s capabilities. And the ending just broke my fucking heart. . . I also chose Puck and Sean from Scorpio Races. I loved their competitive spirits but also how they worked together and how they love their horses. . . Also chose Lia and Rafe from the Kiss of Deception series - the last book featured in this pic. I really love the ending between Rafe and Lia. How they are a team. . . Same basically goes for Kestral and Arin from Winner’s Curse trilogy. They are fierce together and their love is so strong. . .
