Illegal drug trading is a global black market that involves the manufacturing, circulation, and sale of drugs and substances that are subject to drug regulation laws. Countless individuals consume illegal drugs on a global level, with reports showing that global drug trade generating an estimated US $321.6 Billion in 2003.

Chiron selling drugs is a pure example of the lengths a growing man will go to pull through for living. Growing up colored your already facing odds in this world, the struggle to make a solid living is already hard. Towards the end Chiron takes it upon himself to start selling drugs. Chiron is selling drugs because of the fact that he is literally living on the streets and has no where to go. He needs to make a living. I chose this article because it has a lot of information and facts on how when kids are on the streets and are not carefully cared for they turn to drugs and drug dealing as a way to make a good life for themselves. They will do just about anything to survive and make a decent living.

Moonlight 2016

In this clip from Moonlight, it presents the relationship between a father and a son. Although Juan is not Chiron’s father, he and his girlfriend took him in some nights as he would stay in their home to sleep. Juan is like a father figure to him and throughout the film a positive relationship is shown between them too. The need for a black son to have his father in his life is much needed. A father teaches their son how to become a man. The need for black fathers to be a part of their children's life is ideal. As black men they are already at risk for going to jail or killed because of racism and having a solid black man role model to watch over them leads them in the right direction. In a lot of ways this relates to real life, every growing boy needs a positive male figure. In this video, Chiron asked what a faggot is and Juan explains that it’s a bad word used for gay people and to never let anyone call him that. Juan was accepting to Chiron.

Black LGBTQ leaders — including "Pose" star Dominique Jackson, lawmaker Andrea Jenkins and advocate Tiq Milan — joined NBC's "Pride and Protest" town hall.

Labeling is another major key in this film. The idea of black queeer men is introduced and labeled in the moonlight. Although white queer life has already been introduced. The filmmaker introduces the idea of black queer lives. The life of queer gay men is introduced in the moonlight. The white community had already been introuced the gay life. It is presumingly new for a black person to be gay at that time. The scene where Chrion asked Juan if he wa a faggot and Juan replied to never let anyone call him that and that he might just be gay makes it evident that he was unsure and confused on his sexuality. Juan assured him that there is nothing realistically wrong with that. In an article, I found it explains he struggles that blacks face especially if they are a part of the LGBT community.

The enduring influence of Black culture in America as well as white people’s enduring exploitation of it is not a matter of opinion — it is fact.

In “Get Out” a major theme was black people being exploited for the wealth of whites. White people profiting of black bodies is a major theme and relates to today in some ways. In the movie, white people were profiting off of blacks whether it was bodies or slavery or becoming maids. In relation, the slaves were also used to benefit whites and their lifestyles. As a way to be maids and housekeepers to them, they actually profited off of them. This theme of the movie actually relates to today and how today sport corporations look down upon those who kneel during the anthem, but nobody really realizes those sports corporations are profiting off of the black sports players without paying them their worth. They are sacrificing their bodies and still everyday there are black men dying.

Get Out gradually became a horror film. I actually liked the fact that it was made into a horror film because it was educational but at the same time creepy which made it even more interesting. The most creepy scene that I enjoyed the most was the “NO, NO, ..” scene. This scene had me super creeped out. The way the maid spoke so confidently, yet so slow was so scary. She started crying then laughing and repeating “oh no, no no no”. This was by far the creepiest part of the movie, and the acting of this character was immaculate.

#GETOUT

Get Out introduces the major theme of racism. Racism is a theme also in the interracial relationship between Chris and Rose. Although race is not a huge deal in Rose's home the average viewer can tell how awkward it was when he visited. Chris noticed the way the maid was treated and it was awkward because of the fact that he is also African American. I choose this aspect of the movie because it was interesting to see the love that they had for one another considering the state the world was in surrounding the acts of racism and hatred against blacks. Rose knew that it would be awkward, but also knew that he had to meet her family. This is called an interracial relationship. I choose this picture because it shows that they really loved each other, no matter the race and background. Love sees no color.

Love people for who they are, not what the majority of them are like. This is a major theme of the story because Kamilias’s brother was convinced that all asians were the same. When in fact, the Asians that Kamilia hung around were good people. They didn't mean bad at all. They were like family to her. Kamilia didn't “care” that the Asians were rioting against the blacks and killing them. She cared that they were dying, not about who was doing the killing. She didn't branch them out from each other. The Asians really defended her from the angry Asian store owner.

Racism in privilege is another theme. The scene we're the angry Asian store owner accuses Kamilia of stealing from the store is clear that it's a lot easier for the Asian to blame the African American because of the fact that blacks are already facing odds. The angry asian attacks the little girl and tries to push her. It just shows that racism is very much a thing. Some Asians are very much so racist to people who are black. Some Asians like the store owner knows his privilege which is why he is able to get away with certain things like putting up a gun to Kamilia’s head. I hated this scene because I thought it was so sad. Aside from being a girl, she is a little kid and nobody should be unfairly treated that way and looked at so poorly.

In Gook, a major theme is forgiveness. It is extremely hard for the brother to forgive any asian because of the simple fact that the Asians were responsible for killing his mother. It seems as though Kamilia already forgave the Asians because of the strong bind she shared with the Asians. Forgiveness blocks you from your blessings. She created this family bond with the Asians because she was able to forgive. Children are naturally good at understanding life. To explain this the little girl in the movie tells her brother that the asians she hangs with at that store arent the same. Not everybody is the same. Children get brainwashed often to thinking the same way as everyone else, but Kamilia wasn't, she believed that her asian friends were good people and like family. Kids have a natural instinct in what is right from wrong because they do not think too deeply about things like adults do.When we're young we don't think too deeply into situations, we see things for what they really are. Kamilia did not judge those Asians as a whole, she judged their character and she saw good in them .

#GOOK

In this clip, at the baby shower the lady asks Aibileen if she enjoys the new bathroom made for people like her. She explains it's “separate, but equal”. This explains that white people were comfortable talking to blakc people any type of way because they were black. Aibileen bit her tongue and agreed. The bathrooms were segregated, but they should still be appreciative of the bathroom because it was still put together nicely for them. It's almost as though the white people gave them something minor and still exectec them to be happy and appreciative for it.

I'm choosing to write about Aibileen because I love her character the most. This character is extremely intelligent and wise. She raised seven white children which I think is ideally the reason why she was able to change their already assumed view of the African American race. She taught these kids that color says nothing about a person's character. She taught these young kids. While teaching those children that only kindness matters, she finds herself understanding that maybe she's worth being more than just a maid. Although she is still grieving the loss of her own son she finds that she has a natural nurturing gift that can be used for children that are not biologically hers.

#THEHELP

The Help has a way of displaying the gender norms that are of the female lives. It shows how both white and black women are given the role of the house carers. However, they use white women and black women to show how white people believe they are superior. The movie shows how undivided women are and how we put each other down instead of standing with each other. As women we need to stand as one instead of bringing each other down. In the movie a specific part where they are unable to really be who they want to be and do what they want is the interviews. Abilene explains that she grew up already knowing that she was gonna be a maid. She is African American who grew up already knowing her place in this world because of the fact that she is black in this world. Abileen knew that that was all people thought of her so she did not have the desire to do anything else because she knew it was far fetch and didn't have the inspiration to do anything else. Growing up she was already put in that category.

My favorite scene in the Namesake is when Gogol figures out the reasoning and importance for his name. He realizes the significance of his name and its a beautiful coming to his sense of his identity. In this scene from the movie, his father is basically explaining to him the significance of his name. Its as though by his father explaining his name to him, he almost comes to sense with his identity of self. Throughout him understanding the meaning of his name, he discovers himself. This is definitely my favorite scene in the movie. Its simply a beautiful addition.

During the movie it's evident that I think Dallas does not have a lot of internal confidence with herself and her life regarding her desires for the future. It seems as though she really does not think so highly of herself. However, I think that Ringo sees her potential and really helps her without knowing that he's helping her understand that she has a future for herself. She is extremely scared when Ringo asks to come live with him because she doesn't want to disappoint him with what it was that she was doing as a prostitute. Throughout the novel you can also see her heart and the fact that she is actually a great person in the inside but I feel like she definitely lacked confidence, maybe not as much as she may look, but the confidence needed in order for her to be happy.

In the stagecoach, Dallas and Ringo fall in love with each other. Dallas was afraid to admit that she is a prostitute and because of this she doesn't tell him and tries to hide it as she denies his proposal. I actually admire Ringo’s love for Dallas. It reminds me of the typical old school love. Although the circumstances are very peculiar in the sense that she is a prostitute, it's enjoyable as part of the audience to witness two people who love each other as much as they do. I love this perception of love in the movie.

The part in the film that I actually thought was interesting was when Gatewood takes the money from the bank as a banker. Gatewood is a real criminal and he felt as though the government should not get involved in banking and it seems as though he feels very superior. Gatewood is very sneaky. I choose this scene because it very well demonstrates Gatewood as the sneaky person he is.

The movie “Mi Familia” has a theme of strong family ties. Family is important because whenever families go through something it makes it even easier for them when they do have each other to lean on specifically i think in this movie the importance of family is often looked at. Which is why this is a huge theme. Mi Familia reminds me of just the spanish culture in general as well, very family oriented and not divided, extremely together and involved in eachothers lives.
