02 - Post Op

Surgery Update!

I had my post-op checkup with my doctor about one week ago and everything seems to be going well! I'm slowly regaining vision in my right eye, and it should only take a few more months before I can be assessed for a new glasses prescription!

Thank you all for your well wishes, please continue to keep me in your thoughts as I navigate my new life as a pirate for the time being (or a supervillain, I haven't decided).

01 - Surgery Update!

Unfortunately the retinal surgeon did find some weak points in my left (unaffected) eye. Today we did some laser cauterizing in that left eye which was an outpatient procedure. I won't lie, it was excruciating and extraordinarily traumatizing. Again, cried all day. But I was able to take my eyepatch off same day and I'm just dealing with some minor throbbing and pain with slightly blurred vision.

I'll be going in for surgery next week to have a silicone band placed to stabilize my right (affected) eye. Hopefully the surgery will go well and I won't have to worry about this happening to me for a few decades.

Unfortunate Hiatus

Hey, anyone-still-following-me!

I found out some very unfortunate news today. I've tried to keep creating and keep myself busy behind the scenes, but I've been dealt a really shit hand today.

My optometrist diagnosed me with a retinal detachment. It's pretty horrific timing considering I was close to getting a really great job opportunity, so now I'm guaranteed to be unemployed for a full year because of this. The job market has been terrible so I've been unemployed since February. And with the surgery I need I'm guaranteed to be completely disabled for a minimum of 10 weeks.

It's been rough. I've been crying all day. Not sure how I'm gonna pay for this or even how I'm gonna get through the procedure considering my massive phobia of surgery.

Please say a little prayer.

Oh golly gosh it's Taffy!!!

Do y'all remember what Taffy used to look like?! Look at how my baby girl blew up!!! Taffy is one of my oldest OCs dating all the way back to 2013 when I first drew her. She's gone through two revisions now, and I can finally say I'm happy with what her design has become!

  LORE  

Taffy is a supernatural being with unique clown-centered abilities. She is from a circus themed dimension but never mentions anything more than it being a 'real circus', referring to the zany hijinks that occurs there on a second-by-second basis. In her dimension she works as a professional balloon artist & dancer at the “Bounce Caste Burlesque”. She can manipulate elements of the real world and bend them to her will. She has immense strength, impossible dexterity, and almost seems to teleport with how fast she is. She lives off of whipped cream and chaos! Taffy is quite unhinged and 'feral', but her friend Checkers usually keeps her in line.

She swears like a sailor, loves raunchy humor, and is more than likely going to flirt with anyone she gets friendly with. She can be dismembered in any fashion and still move all her limbs as well as speak because she's immortal. She uses her transformable sewing needle and magic thread to sew herself back together. Her joints are covered in stitch marks because she frequently gets dismembered.

Who are these cuties?!?! Why, it's Strudel and Sherlock! I drew this image as part of Art Fight 2023! I love @sadl040s character Sherlock, so I got permission to draw him with my bunny gal, Strudel! I wrote up a cute little story for this image below ~<3

Sorry for my inactivity. I've been through quite a lot in the few years since my last post, but I hope this is my permanent return to creating art!

After a long and tumultuous day, Sherlock makes his way to Strudel's house. She said she wanted to make a 'special surprise' for him, but that she needed his help. As he entered the kitchen he saw her busily gathering ingredients.

"Oh, you're just in time!" Strudel squeals with joy. She takes his hand and leads him towards the counter, quickly opening up a cookbook and pointing to a delicious mint-flavored chocolate cake.

The two spend their time together preparing a delicious cake, laughing and joking with one another. After hours of preparation, baking, and a couple of snack breaks, the two get to marvel at the fruits of their labor. Strudel makes the first slice into the cake, gently lifting a dollop of the handmade icing she crafted to his lips. Sherlock happily laps it up, surprised by how intense the flavor is.

"So, was this a nice surprise?" Strudel teases him.

"Absolutely!" Sherlock nods, a warm and genuine smile on his lips.
