I was told by multiple people to stay safe this weekend at #denverpride , which broke my heart. This is a celebration of the #lbgtq Community, this is a celebration to be ourselves, this is a celebration of how far we have come, and what we have had to overcome. This guy was the only hateful person I saw at #PRIDE. Many people went up to him and asked why he was taking the time out of his day to do this. Many quoted bible verses right back at him and asked for his interpretation. I asked him how that quote applied to heterosexual couples. He had no answer. He was there, judging people (as many religious texts say is for whichever God to do), spewing hate, and telling everyone they were going to hell. Well, just as I do not identify every Muslim as a terrorist, I do not identify every Christian as this guy. Extremists are not representative of the religion they branched off from. Extremists are just that- extreme. Everything I see lately is so negative- all this hatred, judgement, ignorance, and fear. Let's drown it out with #love. Positivity, togetherness, understanding, and acceptance. Everyone was there having a good time, having fun, and feeling safe. It was beautiful.
