I'm proud of this moment. 📸 @l.dawning 1) because @iamstephquaye and I got that ending tight! 2) because my sister texted me before I went on saying "on a scale from 0 to obnoxious, how loud do you want us?" And that's pretty fucking beautiful. Also I said 5 and they were on 11, as you can hear, and I loved it. 3) because I learned to ask for what I need. It seems small, but it's a lesson I've learned a number of times and will probably learn 57 more. Last show I played, I promised myself that I would assess the sound after the first song and ask for any changes, and I did exactly that. Felt SO much better for the rest of the set because I could *hear* what I was playing. (at Music Hall of Williamsburg)

If you don't already know, @browngirlswebseries is a beautiful, REAL, hilarious new series. I was honored to play at the screening last night at the @apa.institute. As they've beautifully stated: this is made "by us for us." This is for black and brown and queer and trans bodies. We understand that representation matters intellectually, but the emotional experience is moving. Go check it out if you're trying to get some art and healing into your body!!! Also you might hear your girl's song, "Honey", in the first episode ✌🏾️
