Feedback with Gumption: Ivy

Ivy sent us an email detailing her thoughts on The Flash. Most of it was positive and she adored Nora, but can’t say the same for Gridlock. She also posed two questions to us. Read her feedback below!

The Flash is back! First of all, Jess - thank you for the shout-out! We worked hard on that article and when I watched the premiere I pointed out every single scene that was our idea. This success belongs to us!

Ok so I loved this episode. I can’t say enough good things about Jessica Parker Kennedy as Nora - she’s the perfect mix of Barry and Nora, and entirely too charming. Barry and Iris’ individual and group scenes with her were magical and I’m looking forward to the rest of the season. I know (or I’m guessing since I don’t really know a Flash fandom anymore LOL) some people are upset about it, but I’m looking forward to delving into why Iris and Nora’s relationship is like this, and hopefully once they fix it they’ll be really close. I’ll gladly be the minority on that. Other good things: Cisco is too funny and I hope they actually use him this season. Ralph didn’t annoy me! Maybe that’s what happens when a dudebro misogynist isn’t writing your story. Joe and Cecile were great but underused. 

This might be a mistake, but I think it was smart that they implied the reason Barry never cared about the newspaper was because he always assumed he came back, but once Nora showed him he didn’t he broke down. Grant Gustin, I adore you. 

Bad: Gridlock was so forgettable I feel bad for the actor. I literally had to look up his name to type this. I am so completely bored by anything to do with Caitlin/Killer Frost that it defies reason. At least she’s with Ralph this season so I can use Duolingo during their scenes.

Hi! This is my first time organizing a hashtag, and I got the idea for #JuneIsForCandice after seeing Candice have to respond to another unnecessary hater in her mentions when she was just trying to celebrate Zoe’s birthday on Instagram. Candice’s own birthday is coming up in June, and, in addition to the other birthday project(s) going around, I think she deserves to have not just a good day but an entire Happy Birthday Month filled with love and positivity in her tags. So, if and when you can, I invite you to participate in #JuneIsForCandice. I didn’t have any strict rules in mind, but I know some of you like organization and themes so I came up with 4 themes for each week in June and a bonus them for her actual Birthday on June 24. Each week will build on the previous, which means you don’t have to stop tweeting one theme when we move onto the next. The goal is by the end of the month to have her tags overflowing with positivity so she can have a good experience being on social media. The only guidelines are to: Keep it positive, Have fun, and Use the hashtag #JuneIsForCandice on your tweets and Instagram. An explanation of the themes and some suggestions are below:

Week 1 (June 1-9) “Affirmations are for Candice”- Candice loves those Tiny Buddha and inspirational life quotes so let’s use this week to send her positive affirmations and inspiration quotes to brighten her day. It could be a quote you saw and thought of her, or you could share a quote, affirmation or self help book that inspired you.

Week 2 (June 10-16) “Pets are for Candice”- Candice loves her little Zozo, and once said that if people would send her more cute pictures of their pets, maybe she might be on social media more often. So let’s do that! Send her pictures of your cute pets, or your neighbor’s if you don’t have pets, or even art/collages photo edits of her dog Zoe. We know Zoe had surgery recently so well wishes would probably be appreciated as well.

Week 3 (June 17-23) “Art is for Candice”- All you creative types, this includes fan art, video edits, music playlists, poetry, photography, and any other art medium you can think of. You want to create special birthday cocktail for Candice? Cooking is art! Really be creative. Only thing I ask is if it’s not your art, please credit the artist. ;)

Birth Day June 24 “I am for Candice” - This is just for one day, Candice’s birthday, and it’s you wishing Candice Happy birthday on her special day. She has fans from all around the world, and I’m sure would love to hear from you on her special day

Week 4 “Appreciation is for Candice” Finally, use these last few days in June to tell Candice how much you appreciate her, what she’s meant to you as a role model, as Iris West, as a co-founder of Shethoriy, etc.
