Here are five such financial tasks you should not miss before the end of December 2018.
File belated income tax return (ITR)
If you are a taxpayer to the government & missed the income tax return filing deadline, then you must file the ITR before 31st December 2018 to avoid heavy penalty. Because as per the new income tax law (section 234F), Who file ITR after the expiry of this deadline has to pay Fee on late filing.
ITR is filed after the deadline but on or before 31st December 2018
Rs. 5000 ITR is filled between January 1, 2019 and March 31, 2019 Rs 10,000
NOTE: For taxpayers whose income is not more than Rs 5 lakh, the maximum penalty will be Rs 1,000.
As per RBI’s circular, all the banks are required to replace magnetic stripe based debit card and credit card of all their customers to EMV chip based cards. All the magnetic stripe based cards will be blocked after the 31st December 2018.
Non-CTS Cheque will not be processed
As per RBI guidelines,all the banks are required to issue CTS-2010 compliant cheque books to their customers. However, non-CTS cheques will not be clearing after 31st December 2018.
So, make sure you do not issue non-CTS cheques after this date. If you have non-CTS compliant cheque book, you must visit your bank’s branch immediately and request for new CTS-2010 compliant chequebook. You can also check if your chequebook is CTS-2010 compliant by checking if ‘CTS-2010’ is printed on the left side of the cheques leaves.
Check if your SBI net banking is still active
SBI has blocked the internet banking services to their customers who didn’t register their mobile numbers with them from 1st December 2018. If you are not able to access your net banking services, you must visit the home branch/any branch to register your mobile number on the “Online SBI” site.
Claim for reimbursement from SBI Buddy app
Have you used SBI buddy app?,then you must claim for reimbursement from SBI buddy app as SBI has stopped its mobile wallet app, sbi buddy from 30th November 2018.
You can contact your nearest SBI branch to apply for reimbursement of money as per the SBI customer care.
