He chuckled leaning his head back to rest his eyes. “You would quote that show” He mutterd softly to the girl. It was odd, the level of comfort between the two. It was something Ashton never though he would have expired again.

“I love that show. It’s kind of a guilty pleasure of mine..or at least it was.” Frowning a little, she watched Ashton relax, and nudged him gently “Hey, Ash? You remember that date we went on to mini golf? And you would distract me and nudge my ball closer to the hole and you thought I didn’t see it but I did?”

"Yeah" He mumbled opening his eyes to look down at her "Should have just let you lose." He said chuckling "I mean you were horrible. I also should have thrown you into the water" Sighing he closed his eyes again. "It seems so long ago. All of it. Ya know what I mean?"

He chuckled “You’re probably right.” He let the silence linger for a moment just listening to the sound of their breathing. “Unless they just dropped dead after” he joked

Absentmindedly, Callie leaned further into her ex’s side, inhaling deeply and with a smile while she listened to him speak “Are you expecting a dramatic response? Because all I can think is ‘oh my god! they killed Kenny!”

“Shut up” He said rolling his eyes though he didn’t move the girl. “I refuse to believe that murderers got to go home and we don’t. I didn’t kill anyone. Least I don’t think I did” He said actually thinking for a moment. He had been in a lot of fights but he didn’t think he would say they were deadly.

Giving him a cocked brow in response to his being unsure, Callie snorted and looked down once again “if you had killed somebody I think you’d know, Ash.”

Ashton sighed and let his body slip to the floor resting his head on the wall. He was tired, not physically but mentally of this place. He missed the real world, with real people and real food. “How about we figure a way out of this hell hole. I mean fuck everyone else managed to find their way out. Even Skie and we just established that she was indeed crazy”

Callie felt a breeze creep past her, and she shivered, instinctively curling into Ashton’s side “M’cold.” she explained “Don’t get your hopes up.” once she had gotten a little warmer, her breath left her in a sigh “Maybe we’re just dammed to be here for the rest of our miserable fucking lives.”

Having her close caused the hair on the back of his neck stand. The closeness was so familiar to him, but it was different now. The feelings he had for the girl wasn't love but more tolerance, they had only had each other for so long that he had gotten use to her presence, it was a norm for him now. "Maybe." he muttered "maybe we will just die here."

“Crazy” He said corrected “I think that is the word you are looking for.” Crossing his arms he let the girl have the joint he had never done any kind of illicit drugs having stuck to cigarettes after their break up. “You can keep it consider it a gift” He smirked

She laughed, looking down “Yeah, OK. She was a little crazy.” Callie conceded, afterward cocking a brow at Ashton’s declining of the joint, but gave a passive shrug “Alright, your loss..” she chose to hold onto it, and put it down, sitting on the floor once again. “What now?” she wondered aloud

“I’ll admit, she was pretty…quirky..but I owe her a lot,” and that was a lot for her to admit. Callie never extended gratitude to anyone. Looking over her shoulder when Ashton laughed, she joined in when she realised what he had found. She turned and took the joint, examining it by turning it around in her hand before lifting it to her nose and sniffing it gingerly “smells alright..” patting her pocket, she looked for the lighter and when she found it, lit the joint but didn’t put between her lips. Instead she held it out to Ashton “finders keepers..or maybe finders first. I expect you to share with me.”

“I doubt it” Ashton said rolling his eyes. Grabbing a near by stick he stopped about a foot away from the bush. Taking in a deep breath he jammed it straight into the bush.

It was very anticlimactic. Ashton stabbed the push and nothing happened. Callie nudged the shrub with her foot to see if anything would move, but nothing did. Suddenly, as a blast of wind, harder than she’d ever felt slapped her across the face, the bush rustled, amid the wind making a strange ‘woosh’ noise.

Ashton jumped back startled as the bush moved. “Shit” he mumbled under his breath. He hadn’t seen it, “Are you okay?” Ashton asked not thinking as he reached up touch her face moving it slightly to the side to get a better look at her cheek.

Still reeling from the injury to her cheek, she stilled when Ashton touched her face “I’m fine.” she looked at the bush while it rustled “Maybe we should run though. Good idea?”

“Come on” He said grabbing her wrist and pulling her away from the bush and into a hut. He didn’t know what was out there but he sure as hell didn’t want to find out. “You’re probably going to get a bruise. You going to blame it on me” He chuckled

Callie moved as fast as she could to keep up with the vastly more athletically inclined Ashton and she wouldn’t say that she did too bad. Once they were in relative safety, she exhaled in relief. At Ashton’s joke however her hand moved to her cheek and she smiled nervously “don’t worry about it. Not the first time I’ve been smacked in the face.” Pausing to look around, she exhaled her breath slowly as the million thoughts crowding her brain battled for dominance “…Wasn’t this Skie’s? Before everyone disappeared?”

The joke made his airs stand up. He knew he had hit her when she first arrived but he still didn’t regret it because while he may have looked into a more human side of her she was still the girl who tore his heart out “Uh I don’t think so. She stayed on that boat of hers most of the time” He said putting some distance between them

Reading his expressions, as she was so very adept at doing now, she could see that comment had made him uncomfortable. Oddly enough though, she found herself feeling bad for what she had said. She and Ashton had been reliant on each other alone for so long that she knew she didn’t want to mess with him that way anymore, and while it was mostly for her own sake (she couldn’t stand his pouty face) she also surprisingly had been bonded quite firmly to him. Once upon a time, back home in anger, Callie had once thrown “I couldn’t care about you if you were the last person on earth.” But now she did and it weirded her out. “Yeah..” she conceded, turning around to give her ex some space and looking more closely at their new home “I never thought I’d miss Skie.” She admitted wistfully “It was nice for a while. She taught me how to survive here. She taught me how to lay a trap…get food..”

He chuckled "Skie was crazy. It was no wonder they were always trying to get her to stop being a leader" Ashton had never had a relationship with much people on the island not even his own leader. Walking around the hut he push over random objects to see what was around. Hitting over bag he saw as a small joint laid there. Laughing he picked it up "Here you go" He said offering it to the girl

The noise caught him off guard. He spun around quickly his eyes locking in. “Just stay calm” He said to Callie in a hush tone as he made his way to the bush.

“Stay calm?” Callie hissed as she followed him, going against her instincts to run in an attempt to defend, really her only ‘friend’ this last year and a half “What if it’s a bear? Or a mountain lion?”

“Pussy” He mumbled standing up slowly making his way to the door. His eyes glanced around as he stuck his head out. It looked clear, at least so far. “I don’t see anything.”

“Jackass,” she retorted, reading to attack anything that surged toward them, but she only frowned when, just like Ashton said, nothing appeared “…But you heard it too right? I didn’t imagine-” she cut herself off as she heard a rustle from the bushes “Oh fuck, we’re in trouble.”

The noise caught him off guard. He spun around quickly his eyes locking in. "Just stay calm" He said to Callie in a hush tone as he made his way to the bush.

Normally he would have ignored her. It was Callie after all, someone he had barley grown a tolerance. Her tone was a red flag sure and it was enough to peak his interest but the noise was what woke him up. “What the fuck?”

[getting her makeshift knife from the back of her pants she nods toward the entrance to the hut] You go first.

“Pussy” He mumbled standing up slowly making his way to the door. His eyes glanced around as he stuck his head out. It looked clear, at least so far. “I don’t see anything.”

“Hm” He mumbled turning over to face the girl. “What is it?”

[hearing a noise outside, she looks back at him, shaking his arm while her tone becomes frantic] Get up! I can hear something outside, get up!

[shakes him as he sleeps] Wake up. I think there’s something outside.

“Hm” He mumbled turning over to face the girl. “What is it?”

“Fine.” He huffed standing up and walking towards her. “I’m coming with you.” Ashton’s face was stern as he spoke wanting her to know there was no use in fight.

“No!” Callie cried, squaring up to Ashton as he walked toward her “You’re staying here. You’re not getting sick for my sake.”

"Like you can tell me what to do" Ashton rolls his eyes. "Let's just get this over with okay"
