La canción habla especialmente de cómo alguien se aleja de una relación amorosa auto-destructiva. Fue una manera de decir que ya no me interesan. Ya he sido dañado lo suficiente en este tipo de relaciones en el pasado. He cambiado. Sobre la “chica cenicero” se hace referencia a una antigua leyenda de James Dean. Dicen que le gustaba que le apagaran cigarrillos en su pecho durante el sexo.
