fuzzy hearth sequel

I woke this morning with glad tidings ebulliating me from my bed. Birds were singing. I slaked my thirst with cool water. The day was mine for the taking.

I equipped my toothbrush, vibrant bristles as reliable as ever. My hair was a masterwork sculpture in the mirror. I opened my toothpaste and worked it onto my brush, only to be betrayed while my guard was down.

I scraped the bristles with the tip of the toothpaste tube, inundating them with potential energy which transmuted into swift kinetic violence. Minty fluoride aerosolized in an arc that shotgunned back toward my face. Invisible salts assaulted my eyes. Fire blossomed therein. I screamed, and my toothbrush fell from my hand which now pressed against my most delicate body parts.

The fire went unquenched by the sink. The day was not mine to claim. Lady Luck works in her own invisible way.
