Top 10 most underrated Kaiketsu Zorori characters (Personal opinion) (this is not ranked by popularity, its ranked by how many times these characters are used, and how were they used for the scenerios)
He could've been a pretty good villain to any plot, just like Bururu. He's tactical, and he's a cheater, and his design screams antagonist. His relationship with Gaon was only episode per, we didn't really see a relationship, and he instantly backstabbed Gaon, almost causing everyone to drown by his misdeeds, typical, but well made villain.
She was wasted as a love interest for both Roger and Zorori in the show. She is emphatic and responsible, more than just the "cute young woman" trope. She could've been better, just wasted like cardboard. Her character was extremely flawed, barely even showing much traits, she was worried, yes, but If could've been better if they added an emotional scene of her hugging Nelly when they finally see each other again (someone on Tumblr already made a rewrite to the scene)
Instead of a straight villain of the show like Bururu, Captain Tiger and Gramo, Dapon had his own redemption arc which was wasted, his childhood trauma was shown from the surface, that can be the only explanation, if you watch for yourself, you'll see weird ways of him acting, standing or just blankly staring at the other characters. The best example is when he turns himself into Zorori with the transforming spell he has to lure Nelly, when she understands that it's Dapon, she screams and runs away, during that scene, Dapon looks like he's physically going to snap, instead of forcefully catching her, he stutters, and stands, then goes after her. That scene is still creepy for me for too many reasons, I love Dapon as a character, but I don't think I'd like him as much irl.
Just like Dapon, I think he's one of the misunderstood characters in the series about his role, he isn't just a rival to Zorori or Dapon's childhood bully, he is a high ranking wizard, and an agent. During episodes, he appeared. He was antagonistic but helpful. For example, of course, the Rescue Nelly episode, he gets badly injured by the lazers while he tries to stop the lazers. And the same moment, Milly tries to run for him, but she almost got hit by another lazer, Zorori ran, but couldn't make it, instead, Roger, with his badly injured state, stopped the lazer with another spell and fell back to the ground with grunts, here's the part that pisses me off. Zorori didn't plan on helping him until Milly begged him to. I get that he's mean and a bit of an asshole, but I can't help but like Roger as a character just like Dapon. He has his own flaws and his own story we probably will never know.
Listen, she needed more episodes, I think there could've been more to her. She shouldn't be just "Gaon's mother" I wanted to see her more like a character than a storytelling tool, like, I love Gaon's backstory even though it isn't as developed, because we had the slightest flashbacks about it. To me, Cynthia also could've had an antagonistic side, maybe her husband, Gaon's father, showing himself for throne reasons, conflict between Gaon and Zorori trying to understand why Gaon's father left (or passed away) since there is no canonical proof of if he's alive or not. Overall, she was important, but overlooked.
Being one of the new characters in the show, Mira had so little time to develop unlike Beat and Rose. She was just shown on the surface in her episodes, her grandfather lacked a name, she was like, Tails, but a girl, except that we don't know if she was bullied as a kid or not. Mira is an adventurer, she is someone who does extreme things like they're normal, swinging with her whips and stuff, I can probably imagine she encountered Zorondo Ron from afar at some point, yet I can't prove it. She had potential, but now just feels left in one sheet.
He was one of the characters I was hyped to watch just as Zorondo Ron. Another mysterious relative figure, it meant a lot to me, I didn't hate the episode he appeared, I hated the fact that they hyped us so much, then we just get to see him one episode, I get he is in space, but yo, he is so nice to watch, Idk why, whenever he's on screen, I kinda smile like "I like that man, he's cool" he's nice to watch as a mentor and a character. Yeah, this is what I think of him, he's criminally underrated.
Don't get me wrong, she isn't as underrated, but is underused. Okay, we get it, Zorori's past is a secret, but I would've loved it if she had her own arcs, in ZZ no Himitsu, it was revealed that she had a thing for pranks, fashion design and cooking, they could've shown us a little bit of more high school flashbacks about her, it could've been refreshing, or when she was sick, her interactions with Zorori, it definitely would've been tear jerking, but it would've been worth it.
He appeared more in manga than the anime, despite being such an important character. Don't get me wrong, I love the arcs where Inutaku is at, I'm just saying that it's not enough at all. He needs to learn that Zorori was Zoroé, that he was being tricked by Zorori the whole time, and he must've been in the police mob where they chase Zorori every time, I also want to see him cross paths with Beat, which only happened on one episode, and it was nice, I would've loved it if it could've happened again.
Now, for the most underrated, most overlooked AND most disliked (I've seen people post about it) The underrated character iiiisss
He is just the comedic character that lands very badly, I don't hate him, but I know he could've been better, he seemed bland, not much interesting backstory, doing the right things accidentally, and acting like an innocent man-child. We needed him to be serious at some times. Not in the comedic way, in his way, like, someone he cares about is in real danger, it can be Rose, it can be his mother, it can be Zorori and the boars, we had to see his bad side no one should mess with.
Anyway, just a reminder, this is what I think, you can also comment your take on the most underused, underrated and overlooked Kaiketsu Zorori characters I didn't mention.
