All the talk about Dekusquad and Bakusquad makes me think that Midoriya and Bakugou really have the kind of friends they need in UA that they didn't have in elementary or middle school.

First of all, Midoriya had been quirkless for most of his life and been mocked, even bullied, by his peers because of it. Due to that, he understandably had low self-esteem during elementary and middle school. It continued even after he was given a quirk at the beginning of high school.

That's why it's really important for his growth that his closest friends in UA (Uraraka, Iida, Todoroki) are people who genuinely respect and admire him, not for his quirk but for his hard work, resourcefulness, and heroism. People who keep encouraging him and reminding him of his good qualities when his self-esteem is low.

On the other hand, Bakugou is born with a good quirk for a hero. He has been praised by adults and peers his whole life for it, surrounded by starry-eyed yes-men who kept encouraging his bad behavior and fed his ego.

That's why it's really important for his growth that his closest friends in UA (Kirishima, Kaminari, Sero) are people who can reprimand him and call him out on his bullshit, all while still respecting his strength. People who talk back to him, tease him, sometimes even bully him, and don't feed his ego by overly praising him.

I don't really care about the division of Dekusquad and Bakusquad, but in the end both squads are important for Midoriya and Bakugou's growth as characters.

I drink my respect women and mothers juice so I love Atsuko in the manga. It's also funny if she's actually Yakuza because a demon boy who sucks at fitting in with human society has this shady human mother who solves his troubles with human organizations via threats and nepotism. 😅 She's strong and powerful in her own way and she doesn't even need to be related to Raizen in order to be a strong cool mom. She's flawed like every character in the story but that's the point. People that are socially labeled as bad can do good if they want to. Yusuke and Atsuko are so like each other.

i think the reason i like tensura is just that while it absolutely is a wish-fulfillment powerfantasy isekai thing in the end, it does it in a way i can actually relate to

like most of the stories that fall into those categories tend to be macho-harem-slop, for lack of a better word

The thing about tensura is that Rimuru isn't an island and is given problems that can't be solved by just punching or overwhelming military might. He rules a kingdom and needs to take care of trade, diplomacy, supplies, logistics and everything else.

They give Rimuru problems that need wit and charisma to solve, it doesn't matter if he can kill entire armies on his own. That isn't gonna bring people to the table. And no matter his power he can't be everywhere at once and do everything himself.

Rimuru's true strength is his intelligence and his leadership skills, he knows the intricacies and strengths of his subordinates and trusts them unconditionally. That's why he's so interesting.

great sage/raphael/ciel is a fascinating take on a cheat skill because it fundamentally addresses the thing that most power fantasies tend to conveniently ignore: the average person, no matter how op, isn't gonna be intellectually or socially equipped to lead a nation
