“Princess Helaena,” Donna curtsied, as best as she could with Allison clinging to her. Ally had been scared of all the newcomers, hesitant and unsure now when she had been happy to explore and interact with Oliver and Dinah. Perhaps Ally did take after Donna in everything, she mused.
“I wished to introduce my daughter to you, if you have a moment,” Donna broke the tense silence. It grated on her nerves and her husband as well. More his, who was a word away from getting on the bad side of everyone. Honestly, she should not be so fond of that as she was. To be honest, she was ready to head home. After this final introduction, Donna would let her husband know that it was time they went home.
“Allison, love, this is Princess Helaena, sister of Queen Laira, you remember Queen Laira, hmm?” Donna gently tried to easy her daughter, who carefully turned her head over to where Helaena sat. “Princess Helaena, this is my daughter, Allison,” Donna smiled, after all, how could she not beam and smile in pride and love when it came to her daughter.
With a brief nod of her head, Helaena reached to brace one of her hands against the arm of her chair. Although she was not quite halfway through her pregnancy, there was a noticeable swell to her belly beneath her gown. Pushing herself up from her seat, Helaena crossed the small space to where Lady Tully stood in wait with her young daughter.
“It is a pleasure to meet you, Lady Allison,” the princess greeted, inclining her head to the little girl. In her arms, her own daughter stirred, her face nuzzling into the side of Helaena’s neck. “I was not able to see you the last time I was in your mother’s company,” she went on to say, a soft smile beginning to smooth her features.
She did not say more of that day. Daenerys had flown to her from the capital with little Rhaenyra to be with her as her daughter had been born and Helaena had held her daughter by day’s end. Such things were what mattered.
“I have a daughter as well,” she told the young girl, her hand sweeping over her daughter’s little back. “Her name is Daenaira. Perhaps when she wakes, you can meet her properly.”
