JUSTICE PHOTO WEEK 7
This photo shows my opinion on justice throughout what I have learned in this project. How? Throughout the Piano Lesson book and reading other blogs by people and myself, I have found out that without justice, things will not settle down. Fights, peaceful or violent, will break out and people will never settle down except with justice coming in the way. Without justice, Would you like to live? If people are murdered, and the murderer is not punished, is that fair? Should people steal and cheat? Of course not. These all lead to the destroying of peace, and so justice must come in to solve the problems throughout the world. Don't you think so?
WEEK 7 REBLOG "They treat you like you let them treat you. They mistreat me I mistreat them right back. Ain’t no difference in me and the white man."
Boy Willie
I really like this quote for many reasons. First because its a quote where a fed up African American takes a firm and strong stand to fight injustice, and stand up for his rights. Second of all I like this quote because he makes a very important point, which is that people treat you the way you allow them to treat you. That is why he refuses to accept inequality, discrimination and segregation. And demands to be treated in the proper and right way or he will mistreat them back. Finally on of the most important reasons I like this quote is because it states an unchangeable truth; which is that all people are equal and that there is no difference between a white man and a colored man. This shows us that we should not accept anything less then justice, equality, and our rights. And that all humans are equal despite the different color of there skin.
(via moathmohammad10b)
I agree with Moath because this quote shows a very important message of the story: Justice. I also agree with Moath that the quote is important because it shows a person's desire to fight back for equality between him and others. It also shows he will not accept discrimination and equality by saying he will mistreat the person back no matter who he is. It does show an important truth of justice: All people are equal and we must fight back for justice no matter what. So I totally agree with Moath and how he describes this important quote.
WEEK 7 SOCIAL MEDIA
My view about social media has changed throughout the course of this project. First, I used to think social media is just a way to get stuff around and isn't as important as other stuff (Sports, games, etc..). However, my view has now changed. With social media, I learned we can communicate with each other as a school and learn throughout the internet. We can also do school projects in a simpler and more fashionable way, so I like it more.
Those who think about social media negatively are usually ignorant people. Most say the web now stores all your images and nothing is hidden, or there is no privacy. Number one, if you think so, why would you put your pictures online? Second of all, how could you live without knowing information about your relatives, or news about the outside world? Life would be very hard, and almost impossible nowadays. So I totally disagree with those who think of social media negatively.
WEEK 6 MUSIC TO QUOTE
I would like to add this music to the end of Act one scene one (pg. 24-25):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxZB7PwRfkw
I would add this soft and relaxing music to the part when Avory is talking about his dream of building a church and why. The reason I would add it is because it is about a dream the priest was dreaming about, and so it is like a time of quietness and listening to the dream. A dream is also a time of relaxation and sleeping, so quiet and relaxing music would fit perfectly to it. Avory is talking about his dream to others, and a faithful dream, so this music would fit perfectly to it.
WEEK 6 QUESTIONS
Do you like tumblr? Why/why not? Do you prefer a different social media website? What website could also be used to do this type of school assignment?
-- Tumblr is a very good website that provides nice ways of blogging and interacting with others, along with easy usage and simple words. We can use unlimited numbers of words and post them quickly. There aren't really other choices for this assignment in other social media sites, even though some like Facebook are available, but Tumblr is probably the most fit for this assignment and the most easy to use.
Was this tumblr assignment good, or would you have preferred writing your responses in a journal in class time? Why/why not?
-- I would say overall that this assignment was a very good and helpful assignment that helped our brains understand our school themes (justice and reputation) in a fast and easy way. I definitely would not favor writing in class instead because in class writing most of us will get bored and not want to work and I myself will get annoyed and not like it. With Tumblr, it is faster, easier, and funner along with technology usage.
What changes would you make to this assignment for next time?
There is not much to change to this assignment, for it is a wonderful one and very interesting. The only thing I would change is to make it more interesting by having assignments to do with stuff we like in our everyday life, as sports, games, and videos/movies. That way people can express their selves and stand out more between the group. In that way we also can do stuff we like and feel more motivated to do.
WEEK 6 BOOK QUOTE
A famous quote from the piano lesson that I liked was:
Wining Boy: "Now that's the difference between the colored man and the white man. The colored man can't fix nothing with the law."
I chose this quote because it relates to the main idea we are studying about. I chose it also because it shows inequality and injustice between the blacks and whites at that time. It shows how Winning Boy feels about living in a country ruled by whites who have control of the law, their biggest advantage. I also chose this quote because it shows the harsh times slaves/blacks have lived in and shows one of the main ideas of the book: Racism. Those three reasons have made me chose this quote to talk about.
BOOK SCENE WEEK 5
MIDDLE TO END OF ACT 2 SCENE 5
http://www.spookysoundtrack.com/track/Aftermath.html
I chose this particular music effect for this part of the scene because it refers to spooky movements. The part of the story in this scene refers to the presence of Sutter's ghost and the feeling everybody gets, with Boy Willie wanting to fight the ghost. This music has spooky sounds and hard door knocks to represent the spookiness of the scene, and the presence of the ghost itself. I think the music matches the scene part, because both have a spooky/scary theme.
JUSTICE ARTICLE WEEK 5
http://edition.cnn.com/2014/10/09/justice/virginia-missing-women/index.html?hpt=ju_c2
This article has shown a very fair type of justice. How? A man has, through reasonable proof and evidence, been linked to the murder of a college student (Hannah Graham). Because of that he is now put behind bars in prison because of his actions. Isn't it fair for him to go to prison for a murder? Wouldn't you agree to that? The article shows justice because the police only blamed the man through DNA tests and proof. It also shows justice by having him punished for his murder by going to prison.
Social media has changed the world greatly. It has benefited people greatly. One of the main things that have been provided to people through social media is communication with each other. People before had to send letters to the people they wanted to communicate with. It was hard and it would...
WEEK 5 CLASSMATE REBLOG
I 100% agree with what Abdullah Khan has written. Social media, as he has written, has greatly impacted and changed out life. It has improved communication between people in a great way as people now use emails instead of letters that take weeks to get around. We also now know about the outside world more and in an easier way, as Khan has stated. We are easily informed by T.V. and websites about the world news. We know about international affairs and all crisis. We also can trade information much more easily and in a more fashioned way. These three things Abdullah Khan has stated are all true and it does help us a lot, and has changed our life a lot.
EXTRA CREDIT
The best thing I personally like about GSAD is that it gives a lot of religious freedoms to people of all cultures. It does not descriminate a certain culture or tradition, but rather accepts them all. It gives days as International Day and holiday breaks for almost all people of different cultures. With religious freedom, people in this school can practice traditions as they wish.
One thing I would like to see improved at GSAD is the cafeteria food. The food is not healthy, but rather is oily and microwaved, despite what the school says. Since the food is bad and already unhealthy, we could add in more food as burgers, pizza, juices, and sandwiches, and not make the prices expensive as it is now. With better food, we could have a better/more satisfying lunch, and the school can gain more money and profit.
This year in English class, I would like to change the fact that we write too much. The class should be open for more dicussions and some writing, but not a lot. Writing is sometimes hard and takes up too much of our time, while we could read or discuss instead of half the writing time.
In English class, I would like to read more fiction or realistic plays and stories, rather than nonfiction and informational text articles. These articles and no fiction books are usually boring to me and everybody else, and do not grab a person’s attention much to continue reading the book. With fiction plays and stories, we could act out plays, and be more interested and hooked into the book.
If I were principal for one day at GSAD, I would take out the uniform policy. With clothe of our choice, we fell more comfortable and relaxed, and not just wearing the same clothe every day to school. Also most shoes are not nice black, and sometimes black is not found. So I would take out the uniform policy for clothe and shoes, and let people wear as they wish and feel more relaxed.
JUSTICE PICTURE WEEK 4
The best part of justice that was shown in the story at the end. It occurred when Berniece and Boy Willie settled on keeping the piano. It showed justice because both were fair and decided to keep the piano and not arise any more problems. It also showed justice because Berniece had worked hard to keep the piano by working on it to save them from the ghost so Boy Willie kept it in the house and was just about it. It also shows justice because an old fortune that is very precious is kept for them and not given to another white man. All these three show justice in that particular scene.
INJUSTICE QUOTES WEEK 4
Wining Boy: "Now that's the difference between the colored man and the white man. The colored man can't fix nothing with the law."
This quote shows that justice is not being achieved in the United States. How? Because Wining Boy is now stating that black people cannot do anything about the law or even budge to try to change it. They are treated differently from the whites and that is true injustice. Wining Boy states that that is a big difference between whites and the colored people, while if it was justice there would be no difference at all, especially in the law. So that is a true sign of injustice.
ACTORS WEEK 4
This is Boy Willie, one of the most important actors of the play. I chose him because he shows the struggle of justice between him and Berniece about the piano, the main problem of the story. He also makes the play parts go on based on his reputation, so without him the story would be dull and boring.
This is Berniece, another important character. I chose her because she bases the whole story on her thoughts and beliefs and that she wants to achieve justice throughout the story with Boy Willie. She also acts with Boy Willie in harsh ways, which makes the story more exciting, and her ways of acting with Lymon.
This is Doaker, another very important character. I chose him because he helps around with the problems going on with his niece and Boy Willie. He also is very social with Boy Willie and Lymon and makes the story go on in an understandable way. I also chose him because he is just and doesn't just pair up with one side and stay on it, but rather helps both.
