I do hope the machine god is forgiving, because I am not.
the little “test” has ended, and I have a new appreciation for solid ground under my feet.

Oh. Uh. Thank you. It looks… amazing. I hope keeping it is not tech heresy.
"Ah so you have also been gifted a digimon it seems? I feel this guy does fit the admech, a cog shaped machine spirit who wants to do its job?"
With your further explanation, I believe it shall do very nicely within the admech. Praised be the machine god for having a hand in creating and gifting us with this “digimon”.
"Just need sure to take good care of it, these little guys dont react well to abuse."
abusing machines is sacrilege and a terrible thing to do. I would never mistreat it.

I do not recommend getting dragged under ice sheets that are several metres thick into subzero water. It is very not-fun.
"Don't interact with Leman then."
I do not believe I would be able to do so even if I wished to, my lord.
"I mean, your interacting with me so anything is possible l."
That is… also quite true. I doubt my Magos has any power over this, so it is possible. Maybe.

+Remember the dark age ruins we explored months ago? I still wonder who was the scientists' patron. Either he must have been brave, or stupid or both. All I know is that he must have occupied a high rank in the army. Logically, I am aware that by now he must have long since been eaten away by time and dust. But I feel that somehow he is still alive. Don't ask me how, I just know.+
(Achilles)
“I guess I will not ask how, but i do agree that his rank must have been high. Perhaps even he was some dark age leader of sorts, someone to be feared.”
Continued from here:
Carrol looked at the skitarius from to toe, trying to determine how much was flesh and how much was mechanical. He could try gnawing on his bones, but perhaps that would mean broken teeth. And he would rather not suffer the incovenience.
"Well, chewing on you might break my jaw. But that's what knives are for. I am easily cut off those annoying metallic parts of you so I am only left with the meat."
Achilles, who had been glaring daggers at Carrol the entire time, cursed him.
"No, you accursed viper."
His gaze went to the skitarius, then Carrol.
"You are not cutting him apart piece by piece. And certainly you will not be eating him, you fiend. Find someone else to eat, and leave them alone."
His eyes narrowed as he watched Carrol, his mechadendrites shifting into an attack display. He had already had enough of the beast´s bullshit. Two mechadendrites grabbed the skitarius and put them behind him.
"I have fought creatures far more grotesque than you, and I am not interested in seeing you turn them into super."
The mechadendrites then wrapped themselves protectively around the skitarius and placed them on his shoulder.
"Enough. I have no reason to continue wasting my time with someone who insists on eating my companion."
He turned around and walked out of the room. The entired time his servoskulls were watching his back. He did no trust that whatever Carrol Smith was would not attack him from behind.
Achilles only felt safe once the shuttle they had arrived carried them back into space.
The Skitarius let out a string of binary and other mechanical noises that acted as a genuine sigh of relief. He was beginning to be rather fond of the inside of Achilles’ ship, nothing ever bad had happened to him here, and the entire thing hummed in a rather calming way.
Anxieties about the whole debacle were still running rampant in his head, but they were far easier to ignore when the threat was long gone. He doubted Carrol had any actual means of getting off that damned planet after all.
“Thank you for getting us out of there. I would have really disliked becoming skitarii stew.” The Skitarius attempted to joke. Curse his inability to shift his tone in anyway that mattered.
Achilles drove the shuttle to the battle barge Wild Autumn Wind. He had already decided what would be done about Carrol Smith. The man was too dangerous to be left alive. The first thing he did when he arrived was to look for the high command. When he found them he wasted no time in telling them about the threat that lurked down below. He spared no detail, no matter how disgusting it might be.
After three hours of careful debate, the high command came to the same conclussion than him. The moon would be blown to pieces.
By the time the serfs' night shift began, Carrol Smith had ceased to be.
During the meeting and following destruction of the moon, the Skitarius had been put in a library of sorts. He guessed it was for privacy reasons, and not a random skitarii left unattended on either ship because despite not being hostile— he doubted many people knew of his existence, and the fact he was not trying to sneak in.
That mattered very little to him though. Admittedly he quite enjoyed being in the library because he quite enjoyed reading. In fact he was reading at this very moment.
The Skitarius was engrossed in quite possibly the largest book he had ever seen. He didn’t quite understand the topic is was teaching, but he at the very least knew it was something related to tea making and the drying of herbs. It was quite the an interesting read, and over the last few hours he had practically forgotten that there was an outside world that existed outside of the book.

I have never been this cold. Not even when I was momentarily frozen entirely by some blasted xenos. I feel like a skitariuscicle.

Carrol just looked just as youthful as he appeared in the photographs. Were he an ordinary person, he long would have since withered into dust. But he was still alive, millenia after the dark age of technology. Achilles wondered if such longevity was the result of any genetic modifications he had receive.
Carrol smiled at him. It was not a comforting smile. There was something predatory about it, as if he were planning to drain the astartes until the last drop of blood. Were Achilles wet behind the ears, such smile would have made him shivered. But instead he crossed his arms and tilted his head.
"There you are. You do not impress me much, if I am honest. Through my life I have seen many evildoers, some of them as bad as you or worse. You know, you remind me of someone. Fabius Bile, alias the Spider, but I doubt you would have ever heard of him since you have been stuck in this pigsty for millenia.
Many have cursed his name through the years for the terrible atrocities he has committed. He kidnapped the living, butchered them in his operating tables, and reforged them into grotesque mockeries of existence. To him, flesh was nothing more than clay he shape under his hand, and every living being just another test subject."
The Skitarius kept a hand on his random pistol, augmetic knuckles groaning from how tightly he was gripping it. He was not very brave, and on that moment he felt like a hare staring down the muzzle of a shotgun, so he felt his very confidence chip away but by bit.
Carrol’s grin widened as he seemed to notice the Skitarius’ fear, but the man ignored the skitarii. Perhaps he was unimportant to Carrol? Or maybe he was just an easy target. He verily displiked the latter of the possibilities.
Just as the skitarius had feared, Carrol had selected him as a target. He was much less tall and physically imposing than Achilles, which made a easy prey. The general looked at him with the eyes of someone who definitely wanted to chop him into pieces and put him into a cauldron to prepare him as dinner.
"Well, well, well, what do we have in here? A tasty little morsel. Yet you do not have much meat on your bones, which is a pity. Oh well, beggars can't be chosers. I will need to suplement my meal with the xenos rats that lurk in these caves. "
Achilles growled at Carrol. "Leave him alone. The skitarius is under my protection, and I will not let you sink your teeth in him."
Carrol laughed. "Why the annoyance? Is the wimp your personal blood bag? Because why else would you get possessive over him? Are you afraid that I might drain him to the last drop and not leave anything for you?"
Now those words really made Achilles quite uncomfortable. Because even though he did not use the skitarius as blood bag, he had treated other people like toys in the past. A lesson he had learned in the eye of terror, where you had to eat or be eaten.
”I contain very little blood!” The Skitarius said, attempting to not cower under the gaze of Carrol. “My fuel lines consist mainly of oils and other fluids blessed by the holy machine god. You would find little-to-nothing anyway. Please do not try to.” It was all true. While his limbs and outer body contained nothing but the holiest of oils and such, anything near his heart and chest still contained blood. Which at this very moment was not a good thing at all.
Carrol’s gaze did not waver, but only seemed to intensify. “Well, I am very willing to tear you apart for my next meal. I haven’t had a proper drink in a while you see,” the man grinned to show fangs, “you must understand.”
“Please refrain.” The Skitarius quickly said. He despised how polite he was being, but politeness had soften blows in the past, so—omnissiah preserve his misbegotten soul—he damn-well hoped it would work now.
I have been unable to get any rest periods as of late, seeing as though I have been deployed with my most dense of fellow skitarii to an ice world that puts the void of space to shame. I am the only one tending to our only heat source, and the other three are probably off galavanting somewhere and getting themselves killed.
Mimimimi be quiet, I'm busy. Busy doing... um... I'm lost...
Help...?
Do you have any idea of your bearing?
We departed at dawn, sun in our backs. Travelling for about twenty minutes, at the average speed of our Disintegrator. We suffered a power outage and got ambushed. I was stuck under an iron bar because of the jostling around, and I was left behind. The Disintegrator is still out of power, but I managed to climb free and it only cost me a part of my left foot. I don't think it is safe to cross No Man's Land, any assistance is welcome.
I will see what I am able to do.
Please do not step anywhere though, there are what can only be described as giant worm-things under the ice, and I would rather you not become worm food.
Hold on tight, and I will locate you within the day.

I once read a very, very, very ancient stoutly about a place where there were giant worm-things in the sand. I am brought back to that time seeing as there are giant worm-things in the snow all around me.
I promise you the defecations of their larval have some, excuse my low gothic, CRAZY FUCKING EFFECTS when ingested in high dosage.
If I may inquire, what exactly does that mean, Magos?
The "CRAZY FUCKING EFFECTS"? Well it can be better stated as expected long-term narcotic effects of a high likelihood to induce potent physiological and psychological symptoms not often associated with typical ingested biological material. I recall a time when I was just a lowly assistant to my mentor, Omnissiah forgive me, a mere few grams had me hallucinating the 4th dimension and accurately predicting moments in the near future... The withdrawal symptoms which include immediate brain death if not taken for a long enough time is adequate to kill any normal addict. It's a good thing I was no normal addict.
In other words, it means don't consume the byproducts of the larvae unless you want to meet the Machine God personally for a few minutes and then meet the Machine God for real afterwards.
Well, I am glad I am not planning on doing so then. Though I doubt I could either way, because the only giant worm-things around me are all larger than Thunderhawks, so I doubt they are the larval.

I must have the worst luck in my entire encampment.
