My name is Abe, I used to be a slave but now I'm the Messiah and saviour of Mudokons. I'm here for you to ask me stuff!

I think it’s pretty obvious, but I didn’t make it clear/definite or confirm it, but this blog will no longer be in use. It won’t be deleted, so if for some weird reason you want to sift through my cringey old art (though there’s plenty of that on the Alf blog too), go ahead! I initially made this account years ago simply because of an absence of an Abe account, and I’ve definitely had fun with it, Abe is a wonderful character (thank you OWI), but I feel my portrayal of Alf has been stronger (even if it’s not accurate), and this also isn’t surprising, but he’s my favourite (duh). I haven’t had motivation to much with the blogs lately, especially Abe, so this account is just up to look at. Questions will no longer be answered (but I appreciate them all and sorry I never got to answer them all), this account won’t be interacting with any others, it’s just there. If anyone sees this as an opportunity to create an Abe blog, don’t be silly. There was never a time where you couldn’t. I know some people worry about duplicates, but please, don’t be silly. He’s not my character. He belongs to OWI. Whether two, ten, hundreds or even thousands of people make blogs dedicated to him like this, it’s fine and that should go with out saying. I know it’s obvious, but I worry people thought this. Same goes with any canon character. Express your love and dedication no matter what! There isn’t enough Oddworld content out there and I love seeing it all. I’ve considered making a Oddworld character to make a blog for, but I’m still very much on the fence and it likely won’t happen, so I’m going to stick with Alf’s blog and start being more active on it.

[Mark & Cyrus] Hey, are you the Avatar of the Shrykull?! We need your help!" the red-skinned mud panted, nearly out of breath.

Abe looked quite confused and surprised. “Uhh… yeah… what’s wrong?” He could feel himself getting nervous with the panic of the situation.

“There’s a glukkon in the village! ” announced Mark. “I would have gutted him alive myself, but this mud stopped and threatened us! He was stronger than us, and no one will take us seriously despite us being in danger! We would be eternally grateful if you would help us, Great Savior!”

Cyrus stayed quiet, letting Mark lead. He wasn’t sure what to make of the situation himself, especially due to other muds’ reactions; but knew Mark couldn’t be talked down.

He looked more afraid. “…A Glukkon…?” He then remembered there was a small number of friendly Glukkons living alongside the natives. Wait… what did he look like? Know his name or anything like that?” He wanted details before he would think of what to do.

“He was a gluttonous, greedy creature who had the gull sit around, taunting us  without worry until we tried to deal with him!” Mark stated. “He wore tacky, unearned, excessive clothing, and was fatter than animals you fatten up for a feast or a sacrifice!”

“He was kinda chubby and looked pretty low-level…” Cyrus spoke calmly. “…He didn’t seem violent, but…” he sighed, sounding unsure. “…He maybe had guards around just in case…”

The Glukkon they described did not sound familiar. “They aren’t usually violent, they get sligs to do that for ‘em. I think the Mudarchers will need to look around and see if he’s got anyone with him or if he’s alone, then we can find out what he wants.”

Are there other mudokon tribes out there Abe? Do you wish to meet them if there are? (I’ve only played NnT and am tryin to go into Soulstorm blind when it releases so I know nothing about to the other games and lore, sorry if that’s a dumb question lol)

I’d like to meet other native Mudokons, sure! It’s good to make friends and maybe they’d be willing to help us.

Milka wanted to finish some paperwork at the rehab. A gust of wind blows one of the documents away and the sheet of paper lands in front of Abe's feet. It's a confirmation of payment for thousand Mudokons. Milka slowly looks up. As she realizes that it was Abe who found the bill she becomes nervous. "Good heavens! Sir Lure, ... It is not what you are thinking."

Abe picked up the piece of paper, and was being rather nosey as he read some of it. He blinked, stunned at what he was seeing. Milka’s defensive speech only raised his suspicions, and he narrowed his eyes as he looked at her. “You bought a load of Mudokons…? I can’t believe this. There’s only one reason someone pays to own people, and that’s slavery! Why are you doing this?!” He looked to be in disbelief and getting quite upset.

She feels a bit intimidated by Abe and stares at him with big brown eyes as he accuses her wrongly. After that she looks down, then takes a deep breath. “I do this because,…” Milka pauses for a moment and folds her hands, then continues. “…sometimes it is the last resort to save them. I- …I assure you that I did not buy them to… enslave them.” She finds it very difficult to say the word enslave.

He took a deep breath. “Okay… so what exactly are you gonna do with ‘em when you’ve paid for them?” He folded his arms, trying to remain calm. Milka had always been on their side it seemed, so Abe knew that really he shouldn’t jump to conclusions.

Milka still can’t muster up the courage to look into Abe’s eyes, she’s looking down to the ground and with a finger she strokes over her snout. This is an unfamiliar situation. She normally talks to Glukkon bosses and has to negotiate with them. “Thank you for your patience, Sir Lure. I will gladly explain our plans to you.” Milka finally says.

“My colleagues are bringing them to an airship and depending on their condition they take the injured people to the infirmary or directly to the dormitory where they can recover from the stress. Because we can not simply leave them in any village we will take them along to Resin first. There’s a housing complex in the city where they can stay temporary, there’s also a Mudokon village not far away from Resin. We offer them new opportunities and train them if they’re in agreement so they can live independently. It sometimes happens that a few of your people decide to stay with us.”

Milka takes a deep breath, then waits patiently for Abe’s response. She understands that this must be a lot for Abe to take in.

Although it wasn’t exactly slavery, it still didn’t seem right and certainly didn’t sit well with him. “No. The freed Mudokons need to come here, straight away.” He looked very serious. “Maybe if they wanna work for you guys after being here, then fine, but it shouldn’t be the first place they go to.”

Milka sighed sadly and slouches her shoulders. “I am afraid we can not do that right away. You see,… the corporations nearby would become suspicious if we land close to this village shortly after a negotiation.” Milka hands him a photo of the huge airship with which they transport thousands of former slaves, slig guards who hated their old jobs and also animals they found at test laboratories.

“I do not have the heart to risk that they find this sanctuary.” She shook her head as she said this. “Please understand that it is not quite easy when we can not use teleporters. That is why I only come here with a small reconnaissance aircraft.”

He looked at the photo, but it didn’t really help with anything. “How will they know where you land? I mean, they’re gonna know you’re not industrialists and not on their side, anyway. If you have all that moolah and all those resources you could do damage to the corporation you’re getting the muds from.” Perhaps Abe was just used to a more extreme method of liberating slaves, and maybe the idea of negotiation and business deals went completely over his head.

She places a hand on her chest on the side of her heart. “But, … we are industrialists. Compared to other industrialists you know we are against slavery.” Milka stated.

“Moolah is only a minor matter, but with that I can inspire the trust of the head of the company very fast. I am not doing this to support them. Not in the slightest. Between us, Sir Lure, I actually feed them a lie and free as much slaves and dissatisfied workers as possible without them realizing what is going on. Soon I will get back the Moolah I paid for their employees and then it is only a matter of time until they will go out of business.” she explained, then places her hands on her waist.

“But this isn’t business. They’re slaves. They’ve always been rescued and sent straight here, and it’s worked out fine. Rather than trying to show them “better business” and living in the city, they need to know what their lives can be, living completely freely in the sun, in nature. Maybe if after being here they wanna work for you, fine. But I’d be surprised if they wanted to.” He shook his head he crossed his arms, still looking serious.

Milka gasped and her eyes widened. Never would she demand that the former slaves work for her. That conversation starts to make her feel awkward because she’s aware that other guests at the Rehab are eavesdropping on them. After a while she dares to look up at him, still with a shy glance.

“By no means, Sir Lure. I think there is a misunderstanding on this point. I do not free them to make them work at our company nor at partner companies. While they are staying on the airship we are already looking for places where they can stay. Whether at your sanctuary or we seek a way to bring them back to their home village. Personally, I am interested in the materials of the company building.“

She hopes that Abe now understands that Milka is doing her job as best as she can. Buying slaves instead of stealing them is only a small part of the project. The only thing they’re stealing are documents and blueprints. They’re pretty useful if you plan to take apart the entire building in the end.

He listened and nodded, giving her a chance to explain because he knew Milka was very much a decent being and wouldn’t do anything horrible to anyone. “Okay... maybe there was just a misunderstanding. If that’s what you’re doing, then it sounds good. Sorry if I made you look or feel bad or anything... umm...” He looked down awkwardly. “D’ya want any help?”
