I'd initially begun writing this post to give a more in-depth explanation of our circumstances and reasons for seeking support, only to be completely blindsided by a new problem in the form of our water heater going out. I haven't been able to deal with it myself, and the only quote I've received so far is $185 for a diagnostic before any parts and labor. I'm adding this as an immediate priority so we can have hot water back to bathe/wash/clean with. I'm so fucking tired, y'all.

Water heater aside, I'm writing this to both establish my position as Cell's caretaker and the fact that both Cell and I struggle with a number of disabilities both physical and otherwise, and at this time neither of us have been able to be approved for any sort of government aid. I can't safely drive, or leave them alone, or keep up with a work schedule that involves leaving the house, and what little I can bring in online is not at all reliable. I'm looking into other options regularly, but haven't had much luck thusfar with a lack of qualifications and suitable environment.
We are at a very harrowing juncture in our life right now and while I hate to have to continue to implore people to offer support or at least shares as they can, I really don't know what else to do at this time.
We have been living with their elderly and also disabled mother, whose own social security and small food card have been keeping the bills paid and groceries bought, but after a long struggle with increasingly severe health issues, she recently passed away and now we're looking at having to find a way to keep the lights on while we figure out what we can possibly do about our living situation going forward.
I'll provide more comprehensive details under the cut, and our donation links here for anyone who might be able to help us keep afloat in the meantime. To everyone who already has helped us out along the way, you have our most heartfelt appreciation. Times are difficult for everyone and we hate to have to ask this at all. I'm estimating our current monthly expenses from a combination of our power, cable, virtual doctor's appointments and prescriptions, phone bill, and groceries most immediately with some room to swing, but seriously, anything helps, it's just to be able to provide a roughly concrete number. When I learn more about the water heater situation, I'll update accordingly.

For the last few years, I've been the most able-bodied person in the house, and that isn't saying much. I have very little physical strength, any amount of significant exertion gives me migraines that lay me flat for the next couple of days, and I have untreated gastric issues that make eating many things a lovely Russian roulette of whether or not I'll be tied to a bathroom for hours on end. On top of that I have crippling ADHD that leaves me with severe executive dysfunction, and at this time I can neither afford to pay out of pocket nor have access to insurance that could help me manage any of this.
Texas won't allow us to be approved for Medicaid without either being employed, pregnant, or approved for disability. Despite my struggles, I have very grave doubts that I could be, and even Cell has been rejected in the past despite being very objectively disabled in multiple ways. I can't leave the house to work, which also precludes being approved for food stamps. When I tried in years past, I ended up being fired because I had to rush home due to them injuring themselves with no one else to check in on them, and now that is only more of an issue. Due to their needs it is virtually impossible for me to be away from home as frequently or as long as a typical job would require.
For some additional context, shortly before we moved back in with Cell's mother, her husband/their stepfather passed away of cancer. For quite a few years, she had had a housemate and friend who was helping keep the bills paid, but his health also took a severe decline and he had become wheelchair-bound during the time we were gone. When she had to rush to drive non-stop to Indiana to come get us after we were forcibly evicted from our prior home, he suffered a fall and passed away while she was gone. She lost both a longtime friend and the additional financial support that was helping keep the bills paid due to circumstances that might have been avoided had people who had pledged their support not forced us to return to Texas on short notice. She had to spend thousands to help us move back which left us all in dire financial straits as a result.
Since then, it was just the three of us in this house, and her health was declining steadily. Toward the end of December, Cell's father passed away, and their estranged half-sister had swept in during the last months of their father's life to manipulate matters so that everything in his will was left to her. The family is refusing all communication, and we haven't been able to secure legal help in this matter either.
Now, due to a combination of longterm health factors and a fall that left her with a severe gash that became severely infected and led to an amputation of her leg, Cell's mother crashed very quickly and passed away in June. They lost both parents in a span of six months and the grief has been insurmountable.
We're left with having to figure out how we're going to keep up the bills without her social security to rely upon or any other benefits. She had no savings to pass on, only this house and a vehicle neither of us can drive. And the property taxes are going to become quickly insurmountable. There are also lingering medical bills to worry about that are rolling in, and the weather is growing worse by the year, which leaves us at an absolute loss as to what to do in an extended power outage or need for evacuation. Cell's health cannot handle severe heat, and neither can our cat.
We have family that covered the immediate funeral/probate expenses and hopefully will be able to contend with her outstanding medical bills, but we can't expect to rely on them indefinitely. We have one very slight possibility for support, but it comes with complications that we aren't sure are going to be able to work out long term, though we're actively looking into it. Even so, I'm going to be doing my best to see what may be possible for us going forward and working to reduce immediate expenses, but during this time any amount of help that anyone can give will help us tremendously, even if it's just enough to make sure we can get groceries.
I'm going to provide here our current electric bill (under an extension so the date is now a month out from what's listed), our cable/internet bill (currently working to remove her TV from the bill as neither of us use it and that should reduce it a fair bit, but for now the full amount needs to be paid), and a previous vet bill for our cat that used up our care credit which we now can't currently fall back on until I'm able to pay back into it more. Also the quote from the plumber I've spoken to.
This entire situation feels utterly overwhelming and hopeless right now, and I'd be grateful for any kind of advice as much as actual financial aid, for anything that might help us figure things out from here.
I'm going to be making a more in-depth post later regarding his condition and our situation and what we're trying to look at going forward (yesterday was a well over 24hr slog for me and i feel like roadkill) but for now I'd really like to get this circulating.
