Caution: Grooming May Result In Injury To Groomer (Dust Cloud Visit)
Forest Feather revised his initial assumption that he'd had worse cases of wings needing grooming down. This was up there with the record keepers. It wasn't just Dust Cloud's motions either though they certainly weren't helping. After being tied down she still squirmed and all out laughed sometimes to the point of tears. Apparently it was just too unusual a sensation. There had been a couple gasps of pain involved when Feather had realigned some very wayward primaries, but fortunately they were few and far between. No, the worst part of this was, he guessed, that she'd never once had them properly professionally groomed or even given them a serious grooming herself. There was a lot Feather would give to know how that came about. But it wasn't his place to pry. The key fact is that this was taking all his skill as a groomer to pull off. He'd completed one wing and was already sweating and sore. But the feathers were neatly aligned and groomed, shining softly from the addition of a bit of oil he kept just for such occasions to add to their sheen and help encourage good blood flow throughout the wings and blood-feathers. Now was the time to tackle the other wing. "Gotta admit, this isn't quite what I expected," Dust Cloud said as Feather shifted sides. "I do feel a difference though." At these words she flexed the wing in and out before leaving it spread. "Good, or bad?" Feather asked with a minor amount of apprehension. His concern was allayed slightly with a shake of her head. "Hard to say. Just… different." With that, Feather returned to grooming. Another hour of some of the hardest work in his life, and he only had one feather left to align. He carefully nipped at its base, and tugged, trying to get it into alignment. Unfortunately for him this caused Dust Cloud to react rather violently. Her whole body twitched, and the binding on one hind leg came free as she jerked resulting in a hoof being planted squarely against Feather's cutie mark. The stallion was sent flying. Dust Cloud looked back in shock. "Oh geez, are you okay?" Feather laid upside down on the floor with a walleyed expression. "Oooh that one was a doozy. I think it's all good now… I'm gonna need to lay down after this."
