time for a little oc bio!

(this drawing was made late last year, i still like it! it’s jester meeting sackboy!)

name: jester

age: 27 in human years

gender and pronouns: male, he/him

species: sackperson

shape: lanky, tall (17cm, more than double the height of an average sackboy)

materials: jester is made of spacedust woven into black polyester, stitched together with blue thread! his eyes and teeth glow white, and his zip is golden with a lightning bolt shaped hole.

outfit: jester wears the jester outfit (no way?!?!?!) in red and green. his zip is not visible in this outfit- it is hidden in his ruff, however the bells on his hat match his zip.

personality traits: jester is a fun-loving extrovert with a love for mischief and pranks! he has a good heart, but being a lover for mischief and as well as being very chaotic he can sometimes accidentally make his pranks dangerous. despite working for vex, however, he means no harm; he just wants to have fun and vibe. jester can be dense and clueless most of the time, but he is surprisingly intelligent in certain fields such as problem-solving, engineering, mathematics, etc.

hobbies: cooking and baking, dancing, and making things. he will bake treats and make cool things for knitted knights (like plushies, drawings, etc)

likes: meeting new people, vex, entertaining others, britney spears and her music (vex introduced him and he became obsessed), causing mayhem, being a general nuisance

dislikes: silence, bright lights (he has sensitive eyes), being ignored

fears: abandonment

backstory: jester suffers from retrograde amnesia. he cannot remember anything before he hit his head; he doesn’t know who he used to be, where he came from, or anything. he tries not to think about any of this and just buries it.

he lost his memory during the events of LBP3, when he was fighting a titan and failed. jester used to be entirely able to talk, but the head injury he received from the titan damaged his vocal chords as well as causing memory loss. he managed to get a voice box from the interstellar junction, but it does not often work, so he mainly communicates in sign language or writing/typing.

he was created to be a minion for the negativitron, but he was a factory error and therefore ended up getting tossed in the bin.

also, despite his appearance, he isn’t actually vexed! vex inspires jester, he isn’t being controlled or manipulated or anything like that.

oh...... you've got a lot of those colors going on. the red, green, but no white - not like the holiday kind. :( no, no! the familiar kind. the very familiar kind. the kind that hurts. are you... well, friend? are you alright? :0

Jester nodded along, but he didn’t seem to listen to what Breakfast was saying; instead he was focused on something else. When the other sackperson finished talking, he smiled widely and handed her a piece of paper.

Breakfast had been tapping her finger against her chin, cautious but so curious about this funny talk fellow she’d stumbled across. Fret immediately settled into her - she’d never come across a Vexed Sackperson after all - and certainly not one so tall! Should she try and find help for him? Was he in any pain? Did he - wait what was he handing her—

“What’s this?” She took it, her head tilted, before her antennas practically sprung up with a gasp of delight at what she saw. “Oh, this - is this me? Did you really draw me?“ She nearly pressed her face against it, absolutely elated. “it looks just like me! And you gave me such a nice, big smile, too!”

An excited laugh that bubbled came out, her one wing batting back and forth.

“How very curious but wonderful! This is wonderful! Thank you!”

This was great! He definitely made a good first impression. The two were sure to be good friends!

Jester grinned triumphantly before standing up, the golden bells on his hat jingling as he bowed his head. He then looked down at Breakfast with a thoughtful expression before moving his hands. Some may recognise the form of communication he was using. (I’m glad you like my drawing, very glad! As soon as I saw you I grabbed some paper and the nearest crayon!) He signed, (I’m Jester, who are you my funny-talking friend?)

Breakfast’s eyes lit up, watching with a caring and focused eye as Jester began to move his hands and speak to her. It reminded her once again of how remarkably vast the means to reach out - to speak your mind, your heart, your very voice to all those that were there within the Imagisphere! If they had the patience to listen, of course. She could listen to the sounds of the universe for eternity if she could - Oh, right, the present conversation.

She gave a light chortle, nodding. “Remarkable and intuitive. Both very, very good traits to keep held close.” Breakfast gave a good natured smile up at this tall friend, still holding his wonderful drawing close. “I’m...” She paused then, her internal process withdrawing. This was someone that was potentially Vexed and in danger, in danger of harming others, or a catalyst of both. None of those things had been set off the table yet, and if she set her title out...

“... I’m just passing through.” Fantastic work. “I was looking up all the way up at the clouds, and then the berry bushes, and now I’m looking up at you.”

When Jester finished signing he goofily mimicked Breakfast’s body language, nodding when she did, smiling when she did, and even standing the same way. He had a playful and silly nature, and this manifested in many ways, such as mimicry- sometimes he did it unknowingly, other times it was intentional.

He clearly had no idea that Breakfast was so concerned; he was a rather dense fellow, packed with too much cotton, one could say. Suddenly Jester chuckled in a synthetic voice. (Great to meet you, ‘Just Passing Through’! I hope we can run into each other more, yes yes!) He signed enthusiastically before immediately gasping and jumping in alarm. (I’m running late! My handsome boss and I have super-secret super-evil plotting to do! Bye bye friend, I’ll see you soon!!) The clown sackperson ran backwards as he signed so that Breakfast could see what he was saying, and then he quickly turned and sprinted, the sound of jingling bells fading as he got further away.

jester, the enigmatic and mischievous right hand man of vex- but despite working for a bad guy, he gets along with just about anyone and loves to entertain others, sometimes even baking cookies for the knitted knights (much to vex’s disapproval)
