Given some recent events in the general utmv fandom space Im a part of I feel its necessary to add my two cents.
While I myself am not personally comfortable with a lot of things generally labeled as “proship”, I really dont care much for the pro or anti labels and am actually horrified by the idea that some find such labels as a genuine reason for harassment. This is tumblr, there are so many ways to curate your experience on here. Block tags, block blogs, block to you’re hearts content. There’s nothing wrong with blocking but there is so much wrong about harassing someone over an online label.
Ive been in this fandom on and off for awhile now, so Im sad to say behavior like this isnt new. And I wish only the best for those on the receiving end of this garbage. Liking “problematic” fictional content doesn’t magically make you a horrible person and I wish more people understood that. Yes it’s important to be aware of harmful or dangerous people online, but theres a difference between dangerous people and those who simply have a different comfort level when it comes to the fiction they enjoy. Try to be aware of the difference, and dont go throwing very serious accusations that apply to the former onto the later.
All that said, please just be kind. I don’t typically like to get involved with online drama but some people are dealing with some highly unwarranted behavior right now, and I want to make it clear that i’m not cool with that. So please keep any comments or tags respectful, thank you
