This is an argument I once heard used to describe comic writing but I feel might be helpful regarding the specific case of fear of blorvo butchering - I've certainly had my fair share of worrying about characterisation.

The idea was put forward that writing, especially in regards to writing established characters as is often the case in comics or in this case fanfic, is establishing your interpretation of these characters, and the story is your argument for how and why that works.

So when you're writing characters, you aren't necessarily just trying to be in line with whatever other people's interpretations are - you are presenting yours, the version of these characters only you could have made, and establishing as you write why that interpretation works and how it makes for a good story.

I'm not entirely sure how helpful this might be, but I hope it's at least an interesting thing to think about. For the record, I personally adore your particular characterisations of the cast of TCOTI.

- Yeah, I went ahead and did that. I think I intended to pin the masterpost awhile back and it just totally slipped my mind. But it’s there now! And thank you very much!!

- The genocide route in Undertale is pretty deliberate about pinning all your actions on you, the player. While what you are doing is terrible to all the characters in Undertale, there is still a sense of separation between you and the game, that the characters are directly seeing the player as the adversary they must (but cannot) defeat. In Snowgrave, however...not only is it killing a ton of random characters, but it’s doing so by manipulating a completely innocent party into actually doing it. Hell, it’s manipulating two characters that don’t want to be involved, since the player is convincing Noelle to act as such through Kris, who also does not appear to want anything like this. It’s just an extra layer of grossness on top of what Undertale already established was cruel.

- Huuuh, I could’ve absolutely sworn that either Seam or Jevil or King used he/him pronouns when talking about the Knight in chapter one...well, this is why I’m doing a thorough replay of both chapters!

Hello! I noticed in the post that you clarified the fanfic as non canon (which it is 100%) so I was wondering, where people actually basing stuff of of that? If so, I feel I should apologise.

No, actually! No one’s come up to us yet assuming that the fanfic was based off of canon. I just felt the need to clarify it for those who might think that but haven’t said anything. 👌
