What Remains in the Dark is set in the modern world in 202X, in a society that mirrors our own until a sudden apocalyptic event triggers the collapse of governments, infrastructure, and social order. As monsters and unexplained phenomena emerge and survival becomes paramount, the story unfolds in familiar urban and suburban settings transformed into spaces of fear, scarcity, and moral uncertainty, where personal grief and hidden truths collide with the end of civilization.

They say the death of a loved one turns your life upside down. It’s the kind of grief you hear about in passing—the kind that happens to other people—until it happens to you.
Dad was there one day, gone the next. No warning. No time to prepare. His sudden death shattered the fragile balance of your life. The house that once felt warm and familiar became hollow, echoing with everything he left behind. Mom drowned herself in work, disappearing into her job to avoid the crushing weight of loss. Your younger brother was swallowed up by the petty, fleeting dramas of high school.
