[[ while it is not the case for this instance of Longarm, I feel like there have to be some fun story ideas to be played with for a Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde split of Longarm/Shockwave, or a style of sleeper-agent where Longarm is plainly unaware of his true identity. Between the way that Longarm is just MASSIVELY suspicious in the actual show, and the fact that it would be so beyond fucked to learn that all that you are is a mask that's being worn to advance your enemies' agenda?

It would be delicious is all I'm saying.

Too bad I've got no laptop or i might add this to the pile of fun little tasks for me to fuck around with. ]]

[Soundwave was never one to exactly take care of itself. If something that it did not use on a daily basis somehow managed to become injured or damaged, its repair was fairly low on its list of priorities. Soundwave had far more important things to tend to than what it would consider "vanity".]

[Still, this stubborn refusal to take care of its body is how Soundwave found that the injuries it sustained from the brawl with Wheeljack had not yet healed over. Rust began to bite at the edges of the cuts on its wings, making the metal there impossibly itchy and uncomfortable. Soundwave couldn't help but pick at it.]

[It was in one of these moments of weakness that Longarm somehow managed to find Soundwave. It immediately zeroed in on him, letting one arm drop to the side, and the other point at him. Soundwave had never even seen this mech before, nor had it any information on him. The Autobot insignia certainly was not doing him any favours as Soundwave played its recordings.]

State your purpose.

"I-." The mech looked... the angular build felt more familiar, more alike to his true allegiance, but finding the insignia, the shape of this stranger's alliance was-.

The accent shifts, a colder tone- "I was searching for the Decepticons. I'm given to understand that they're on this planet."

Shockwave's voice- at least, the voice that this one used in Shockwave's throat. It wouldn't mean much to this mech- unfamiliar as it was.

Blue optics search between the rusting wounds and the mech's obscured faceplate. "You are... one of them, are you not?" No move to approach, no move to attack; he wants this to be an ally. A true ally. Servos slowly raised, peace.

He looks up as the yellow mech comes careening into his office- "Bumblebee?"

Blue-glass optics flick between where the crashing catastrophe echoes, to Bee, and back. "You" -the compliment hits him, and he steeples his servos in front of himself- "I'm... fine. What are you doing here?"

Ha, ha, ha. Get better friends, was the immediate thought, crumpled down before it could flicker over the mask, before that faint irritation could glow red in the dim of his office—

Which he needn't have bothered with, when Bumblebee's voice, soft as a breeze, was against his audial- "huh. The story of ... I. Worked hard..?"

Biting the mask's glossa, checking himself; he got this primacy from being good at communications analytics, and if not that, then because he wanted to infiltrate rise through the ranks of the intelligence sector of the Autobot military. He got to the top... "I just knew I would make for a good fit for the role, so I made sure to keep an optic open for any chances to prove my worth."

nothing much. *He went over and sat on the table longarm was working on* just thought I'd drop by and catch up. Haven't seen you in... A while~

He did not see, in fact, beyond Bumblebee sitting atop several datapads worth of Autobot Communiques. He had already read through those, nothing noteworthy, but- what was with that lilt?

The mask twitches up into a smile. "Well. How is... How's Earth been treating you?"

bleh. Good I guess. Its the usual, prowl being annoying, sari being weird (without telling me 😭) boss bot adopting more kids. *He waved his hand around tiredly* I just wish something interesting would happen. Sooo I went to the most interesting person I know ;)

"Most interesting?" He laughs- a couple short sounds surprised out of his vocoder. "Seems like you have your servos full with them, doesn't it?"

So earth was chaotic, was how he understood that. And Megatron-. No, if Megatron were going to be brought up, Bumblebee would have mentioned him. Or any of the other Decepticons.

Leaning back slowly, red glass glimmered briefly as Longarm fixed his gaze on Bee. "I'm afraid I'm really not as interesting as any of your crewmates, or your human pe- the. Sari." Maybe a lie, but what made him interesting wasn't something to share with any Autobot. Even with the earth-crew. Especially not when one of them was here.

"friend longarm visiting wasp?" He asked curious and shy

"Hey there, Wasp- it's been a long time, hasn't it?"

Oh. This wasn't good, was it.

No- no, it was fine. Bumblebee was the one that took the credit for exposing the 'traitor'... and the news that Wasp had not been the traitor had already gotten out. As far as everything was concerned, Longarm was barely involved to begin with, beyond now needing to track down the real traitor.

Ha.

"How have you been, old buddy?"

".....wasp......feels hated..." The green bot looks incredibly depressed.... "Council hate wasp everybody hates wasp .. wasp better off as scrap...." A choked sob was heard

Longarm looked over his shoulder- er... he really wasn't the best suited to. Emotional. Support.

Let alone how little he actually cared to try and help with that.

Awkward servo on Wasp's shoulder; "uh... there, there..?" Longarm was part of the Council. And he really didn't care all that much for Wasp, except that he had been a convenient fall-guy. Biting his tongue, he added, "I'm... sure not everyone hates you."

The green bot nodded softly "would longarm be able to get council to give wasp his life back?" He gives him the puppy optics

Blue optics narrowed for a half-second, red glinting with internal light on his forehelm- "I'll... see what I can do."

He had no intent to follow through on that. The sliver of white light faded quickly, and he retracted the servo that had, however briefly, given comfort. The Stockade must have done quite a bit more damage to Wasp than Longarm had initially imagined, to have reduced the mech to this-.

To begging for a shred of hope from himself, of all mecha.

Better him than me.

"Even if I try, though, that's no guarantee anything will come of it." After all, Sentinel Prime was also a member of the Council, and neither he nor Longarm stood to gain much by freeing the mech from his status as excommunicate.

He hates to refuel in the cafeteria.

There is the obvious reason; autobot fuel is crude and barely restores his energy for how quickly it fills his tanks. Oil and gasoline and carboniferous material that makes for fine snacks and nothing else. He misses the caches of energon that had been stored off-world, the sensation of fullness and alertness that came with such dense fuel.

If he ate there, they would watch as he consumed fuel sufficient for a war-machine four times the mass of Longarm Prime.

There are other reasons, equally obvious to himself. The displeasure at having to use a mask to consume the fuel- it is easier to refuel with his own face, with the proboscis that extends from his throat- his real throat -than it is to manipulate the visage of this puppet he pilots, so that he does not spill fuel down the sides of his face in so clumsy a manner as is unbefitting a Prime.

It would simply look bad to come across so uncoordinated.

So he dislikes to eat there.

The low fuel indicator pings against the inside of his helm for the fifth time since sun-up. He has been ignoring it in favor of stimulants, but he can't do that forever.

With a low groan, he heaves to his pedes.

Helm in hands. Optimus Prime ought to have better standards, of course. It would be appropriate to weigh in on the side against the Prime.

Theoretically, he should care about this mech making better choices. Also theoretically, it's better if the comms are flooded with meaningless prattle than anything of actual importance- even if Longarm still has to sift through it all in the end.

All that comes out is "it's his business. His standards for dalliances, or whatever else, are fine. He can take the results that come with his choices, it doesn't matter."

He is talking to no one, of course, but the words still come out through strained vocoder.
