What do I think?  I think that's an awfully nice dress to be sitting on dirty floors with.  Really there's no point in dressing like a queen if you're just going to muck about in sooty lairs.

Sera, darling, when you're five years old, fashion isn't really divided into categories of "tacky" and "tasteful" like it is for adults, the only thing that matters is how adorable it is.  So by all means, sweet girl, wear that awful sweater, you are adorable in it. 

(Also I can't afford not give this advice, in light of my previous post.)

You're quite right, red and green are for the uninspired Christmas decorator who is satisfied dragging the same tacky, dull ideas out of dusty boxes from the previous year. 

To be truly fashionable is not only to look exquisite, but to be -surprisingly- so.  Choose boldly.  Any colors can work in your holiday tree decorating, as long as they're matched with discerning taste, but this year I've gone for a winter classic, silver and gold.

Darlings, are you still alive out there? Managing to match your socks without my expert guidance? Well.  If Proto is answering questions on HIS ask blog, I had better field some myself.  It cannot be said that my grievously eccentric roommate is more tumblr-popular than I.
